Production Manager
The Production Manager leads the operation of the Production Shops, ensuring that output is completed on time, meets established quality standards, is cost-efficient, and provides Core and Daily Volunteers with rewarding volunteer experience.

The Production Shops support all Habitat for Humanity of Metro Denver construction programs with goods and services that bring high value to field construction operations. Shop products enable a direct and substantive reduction in field construction time, thereby reducing the overall cost of construction. This cost reduction allows the Affiliate to serve more families in support of our vision to create “a world where everyone has a decent place to live.”

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage all operations of the shops to ensure product completion in accordance with project construction drawings, field order forms, quality standards and construction schedules.
Estimate and order needed materials and supplies for shop operations.
Plan and schedule shop activities to appropriately manage workflow and to meet respective construction schedules. Coordinate daily shop activities to balance volunteer numbers and skillsets with production goals.
Create and document processes and procedures for shop activities; regularly review processes and procedures and update as appropriate.
Ensure that wall panel drawings are correct, accurate and ready prior to fabrication of respective wall panels.
Interface with Volunteer Engagement and Development Teams to schedule daily volunteers and sponsor groups in the shops.
Ensure that shops are kept clean, organized, and orderly and that tools and equipment are properly maintained and safe for intended uses.
Ensure that all volunteers and partner families have a safe and rewarding experience in the shops.
Engage collaboratively with design and field construction teams to ensure that current shop offerings meet overall program goals; remain responsive to design or field changes, new ideas, standards, and code revisions; develop new or revised Shop offerings as appropriate.
Establish and maintain appropriate quality standards and quality management practices for all shop products. Include processes to facilitate timely and constructive feedback when products do not meet established quality standards, or when standards need to be revised.
Maintain documented safety procedures and practices in the shop in compliance with applicable safety requirements; regularly review practices and update as appropriate.
Train Shop Crew Leaders (Staff, AmeriCorps Members and Core Volunteers) on how to perform required shop tasks safely, correctly and efficiently. Respond to questions and provide directions as necessary to meet safety, quality, and production objectives. Immediately correct any observed unsafe work practices or procedures.
Ensure that Shop Crew Leaders know and effectively teach appropriate technical and safety processes and procedures to volunteers.
Proactively respond to any safety concerns raised; promptly taking appropriate corrective action.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
A strong belief in Habitat’s mission and a desire to engage others in the organization’s work.
Mastery of general residential framing and carpentry skills. Working knowledge of residential construction standards and techniques.
Excellent oral and written communication skills with ability to flex style to communicate clearly, professionally, and sensitively with diverse audiences of homeowners, volunteers, contractors, suppliers, vendors, coworkers.
Self-motivated and able to work independently with superior time management and organizational skills.
Comfort navigating a dynamic, regularly changing landscape and success working in a similar environment.
Excellent attention to detail.
Ability to read, analyze and interpret residential construction drawings and related documents.
Good process management skills with the ability to effectively plan, prioritize, coordinate, delegate and manage workload to meet goals and deadlines.
Strong continuous improvement mindset.
Experience working with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds is preferred.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Minimum 5 years residential or directly related construction experience.
Minimum 2 years supervisory experience.
Demonstrated experience successfully working with volunteers is strongly preferred.
Strong computer proficiency including experience with MS Office Suite; experience with contemporary project management and construction estimating systems preferred.
A related degree could be beneficial in this role.
Bilingual (English and Spanish) is a plus.


WORK ENVIRONMENT AND CONDITIONS, PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS NECESSARY TO PERFORM THIS JOB:
Ability to adequately traverse a residential construction job site (i.e., climbing, lifting, carrying a minimum of 50 lbs., and other similar activities as required).
A valid driver’s license and ability to be insured under the company’s insurance policy is a prerequisite. A Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) will be run for insurance purposes.
Ability to earn certification and drive a forklift vehicle
Ability to safely use residential construction power tools
Ability to sit at a desk and computer for extended periods of time
Various portions of work week are spent in office, warehouse, woodworking and painting shops, and active residential construction settings.
Warehouses, woodworking, and painting shops are prone to nominal woodworking and painting dust and fumes.


The starting annual compensation range is $55,400 - $65,400 for the position. New hires are typically brought into the organization between the minimum to midpoint of the salary range posted depending on qualifications, internal equity and the budgeted amount for the role. FLSA Status will be determined by the starting compensation based on applicable state minimum for exempt status.
