Job Description

Position Overview:

Responsible for supervision in all aspects of plant production activities across all shifts.  Provides guidance    to front line supervisors in all operations including cross-over functions from Injection to Blow Mold to Downstream to Specialty This position is responsible for managing all plant production activities and safety, ensuring compliance with all company/plant policies; meeting production schedules and standards;  producing in accordance with applicable customer requirements, maintaining optimum production at the least possible cost, defining problem areas and other areas for improvement, conducting investigations and implementing solutions.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

Responsible for reporting and controlling al safety, quality, and efficiency performance daily through written or verbal communication.Assures all plant safety and accident prevention policies are adhered to, including maintaining cleanliness in all production areas, a safe work environment and safe work practices and ensuring any outside contractors adhere to Amcor policies and procedures.Maintains standards of quality to meet customer and internal specifications.  Strives to continuous improvement in quality performance through proper training, good communication, effective leadership / supervision, and follow-up with all front-line supervisors.Directly supervises and trains the production supervisors,  and leads all other production positions to ensure a skilled workforce.  Assesses skills and recommends or provides training to ensure department coworkers are competent in procedures/policies and plant goals are met.Promotes continual improvement, cooperation, and collaboration between departments by leading cross-functional workgroups to solve problems, as designated by the Operations Manager(s) and Plant Director.Mentors front line supervisors in areas of need to ensure global and multi-discipline understanding of production/operations.Ensures the scheduling of training and supervision of hourly employee activities; administers plant rules and procedures; recommends employees and candidates for hire, promotion, demotion, transfer, disciplinary action and/or termination.Measures performance daily and weekly through analysis reports and recommends changes to improve and optimize throughputMaintains production efficiencies and scrap minimization and is responsible for the Scrap Reduction Reports and Team efforts to reduce scrap and increase efficiencies. Champions plant projects designed to promote continuous improvement efforts and optimize production efficiencies respective to all goals as directed by the Operations and/or Plant Manager.Maintains employee morale and discipline through fairness and impartiality.Assists in the review of labor and manufacturing costs as they relate to production.  Analyses, pursues and recommends methods for reducing these costs.Coordinates the implementation of any approved process or procedure changes.  Responsible for communicating these changes to production personnel and follows-up to insure understanding and proper implementation.Keeps current on technical developments and changes in order to instruct and train employees.

Qualifications: Education

Education:  Technical/associates/bachelor’s Degree; 5  years of related experience.Management and/or Leadership TrainingThe equivalent of education, training and experience is acceptable.Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goodsKnowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
