The Production Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, and supervising technical production for the Theatre Department's five-play season and related events. The PM reports to the Chair of the Department and supervises scene shop personnel (master carpenter, props master, paint charge, overhire labor, student employees, and Production Lab students) as well as the costume shop supervisor, master electrician, and sound technician. The PM plans and executes the production calendar, manages technical production budgets, and determines the feasibility of all proposed designs and plans in view of available resources (time, space, budget, and personnel). The PM will serve as technical director and oversee the construction of all scenic elements for Department productions. PM will run weekly production meetings, load-in, technical and dress rehearsals, and strike; maintain the Scene Shop, including power tools, supplies, scenery stock, prop inventories, and other equipment; and provide safety training for students and enforce responsible safety procedures. Full-Time Equivalent Hiring Range: $57,800 to $72,250; salary commensurate with relevant experience. **Requirements** Ideal candidates will possess strong skills in the following areas: leadership, communication, time management, budgeting and cost analysis, scheduling, technical drawing (CAD experience needed), supervision, and collaboration. The position requires knowledge of rigging (single purchase and dead-hang), metal working/welding, theatrical engineering, scenic construction, stage carpentry, and stage machinery. Familiarity with electrics and sound/audio equipment is a bonus. The Production Manager must also be well-versed in issues related to workplace safety and prepared to comply with OSHA, MSDS, and local fire codes. This is a 12-month position, which requires periodic evening and weekend work.
