Position Purpose:

 

 

The purpose of this position is to operate, clean and adjust equipment, prevent spills and removal of bi-product trailers from offal area.

 

 

Hours of Operation:

 

 

2:45PM to  11:30PM

Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities Maintains and cleans shakers and tumblers by spraying a high pressure hose (240 psi) on the shaker every 15 minutes and the tumbler once an hour.  Performs minor preventative maintenance and equipment lubrication by checking oil levels and belts as needed. Transfers blood onto tankers by taking a 6’ hose 4” in diameter and placing it into blood tank, open wheel valve and visually monitor levels. Covers loads prior to removal from work area.  Obtains ladder and by turning crank clockwise to extend canvas cover. Notifies drivers by phone when bi-product loads are full and need to be removed. Minimum Education

High school or equivalent preferred

Experience Preferred

Reading and writing skills

Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements Exposure to seasonal weather conditions and temperature changes along with conditions found within the plant.  Noise exposure exceeds 85 db.  Visual light intensity between 55-110 foot candles.  Must wear required personal protective equipment.  Ability to move within offal area, up and down steps and work in a wet environment.

 

When in a plant environment:

 

Exposure primarily consists of wet and moist floors which include metal and plastic grating surfaces. May be exposed to temperatures of 28 degrees to 100 degrees Fahrenheit with both ambient and 100% humidity. May handle product 25 degrees to 50 degrees Fahrenheit.  May be exposed to noise ranges of 50 db to 110 db.  May be exposed to dust, feathers and all chemicals used in poultry, food, processing facility.  Must wear and use protective and safety equipment required for the job as directed by the Company.  Occasional exposure to carbon dioxide vapors 10ppm and chlorine less than 20 ppm.  Able to stand for several hours.  Work may include lifting (up to 50 lbs), reaching, bending, pushing boxes on conveyor assembly.
