The facility currently operates on a 3 to 4-day work schedule, Monday – Thursday, but may work other days as production needs dictate.  We operate with two 12-hour shifts from 6:45 to 7, day and night shifts are available.  Training will occur on the shift you are assigned.   

 

We are hiring for a full shift.  Although the position will work 12-hour shifts in the beginning, we will transition to a three 8 hour shift operation in Q1 of 2025.  We will have openings on 1st (7a-3p), 2nd (3p-11p) and 3rd (11p-7a).  

 

Graphic Packaging International is currently seeking a Production Operator experienced in Quality Control for our Prosperity, SC extrusion coating facility located in Newberry County.

As a production operator, you will be trained to support the extrusion line.  You will have the opportunity to be flexible and learn multiple jobs in addition to our Quality Lab.  The operator’s main function is to ensure our product meets our customer’s needs according to defined guidelines while monitoring output during the extrusion process.

 

Job Duties

Communicate with operators of the previous shift for information concerning the current order. Communicate effectively with the Front Line Supervisor and other team members. Perform all necessary test methods according to the test frequency schedule. Ensure that samples are properly collected from manufacturing according to the sample protocol. Communicate test results to appropriate personnel and complete documentation on test data, including substandard material, according to established procedures and systems. Audit quality attributes by walking and monitoring the manufacturing and shipping process. Generate a Certificate of Analysis (COA) for each order a COA is specified for.  Manage the retain system.  Responsible for maintaining supplies used in the lab. Certify as a First Aid Responder. Maintain the proper level of sample to support Customer Service with the Customer Sample Program. Monitor email communications daily. Daily housekeeping and 5S standards are an expectation. Work closely with warehouse personnel to ensure incoming inventory is properly staged to be put away. Put away incoming inventory in the proper inventory bin location.

 

Job Duties (For Advancement)

 

Operate extruder to produce rolls that conform to all quality and profile specifications. Responsible for accurately completing and processing all documents necessary for tracking extrusion operations. Make process changes and roll changes. Inspecting quality during the extrusion process and/or finished rolls. Communicate pertinent information at shift change. Understand and practice all safety procedures and rules. Know the locations of and how to operate emergency stop buttons and fire extinguishers in your area. Fully train new operators, checking off on training checklists after completing job certification. Provide relief to other team members as necessary. Follow standard operating procedures.

 

Starting pay is $18.50 per hour with a $1.50 per hour shift differential for the night shift with wage progression up to $25.30.

Required Skills

 

Must be at least 18 years old Mechanical/Technical aptitude Ability to read a tape measure to increments as small as a 1/32 Entry Level Computer skills Ability to communicate clearly You will be required to wear steel toes shoes, hair and/or beard nets, safety glasses and earplugs.

 

A background check, drug screen, and a physical exam are required for employment
