Production Operator II

Job Summary

The Advanced Process Operator reports to the Production Line Supervisor for this area and is responsible for interfacing the distributed process control system, starting up and shutting down complex process equipment associated with ion exchange, evaporation, flaking, milling and pneumatic convey, monitoring process variables, sampling and testing process streams, building to building process transfers, and performing day to day housekeeping and sanitation.

Key Elements:
 

· Proactively monitor and operate the distributed process control system.

· Prioritize, delegate, organize, and control work responsibilities. Involve and support the work team in the overall accomplishment of manufacturing goals to meet customer and business requirements.

· Instruct less experienced crew members in the proper use of the control system. Back up synthesis operations when requested. Be accountable for decisions made.

· Monitor levels and safely transfer process solution from tanks and other vessels.

· Startup and shut down resin columns, evaporators, flaker belts, pneumatic conveying, milling, rework systems and DI water columns.

· Assemble and disassemble mechanical components of process equipment.

· Communicate maintenance and automation needs to departmental staff and maintenance team members.

· Perform washes and clean-up activities as defined or required. Oversee and perform the work associated with the Master Sanitation Schedule.

· Initiate problem solving, observe and correct potential problems, and suggest changes or improvements.

· Sample and document the process at various intervals, monitoring product quality and recording the same.

· Perform minor mechanical tasks ensuring that equipment is in good operating condition.

· Operate within the quality, environmental, and safety management systems. Adhere to GMP guidelines while paying particular attention to area housekeeping.

· Train and mentor other operators as required. Assist in the completion of other departmental tasks as required.

· Must have a working telephone with voicemail so you can be contacted about schedule changes.

Requirements:

· One-year prior process or packaging operator experience. Qualification preferred.

· Demonstrated ability to operate complex equipment in an industrial environment.

· Education or training in process control preferred.

· Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems utilizing math, science, and technology skills.

· Can work independently in a work team environment.

· Able to make quality decisions and use good judgement under stressful conditions.
