Role Summary
Under the direction of the operations manager, the operator responsible to run all equipment in a manufacturing cell. The operator must follow all safety practices, quality procedures and maintain productivity of the manufacturing cell to support customer demands.
Key Responsibilities Follow AITF 16949 practices and all safety standards; PPE Supports efforts to achieve department and plant goals on Employee Opinion Survey Follows and supports MEVS and Magna’s operating principles, including: Magna Employee Charter – Operating under its principles by treating all associates equally, fairly and with dignity and respect. Open Door Policy – Solves issues with two-way, open and friendly communication 5S – Maintains and promotes good housekeeping by following the philosophy “Everything has a place. Everything in its place” Safety First - Obey the plant’s safety rules and procedures by wearing PPE at all times and immediately addressing all safety concerns. Promotes an environment where zero injuries is the expected standard Company quality and environmental policies Core values – Treat all employees equally, fairly, with dignity and respect without favoritism in accordance with company values Key Qualifications/Requirements Practice world class safety practices, every day Participate in quality stand down meetings as quality issues warrant Operate machines on a daily basis such as: milling machines, grinders, spline rollers and turning machines with CNC controls. Assignment may vary daily, based on manpower needs and production volumes Assist supervisor with manpower moves to support machine downtime or material shortages Perform low levels of maintenance Perform other related duties as assigned by managemen Additional Information Must have basic math skills Experience in an automotive manufacturing facility preferred Experience in safety, quality and housekeeping on the plant floor preferred The operator works within an office environment as well as in a manufacturing environment. Some of the physical demands of this position include sitting for prolonged periods of time, walking up and down staircases, occasional lifting, and occasional stooping and bending. This position requires that the person be a highly organized individual, who is self-motivated, and can work independently setting priorities without direct supervision. Must excel at working in a team environment. Must be able to handle multiple projects simultaneously and adapt rapidly to changing situations. Awareness. Unity.
