Production Planning Co-op Reference #19254 Waterdown, Ontario About L3HARRIS WESCAM As a subsidiary of L3Harris Technologies and within the Integrated Mission Systems Segment, the WESCAM division develops the most advanced optical sensor and targeting systems for global defense and military sectors, National Security, Search & Rescue and Airborne law enforcement agencies. From long-range covert surveillance missions to search and rescue operations, our MX-series systems, and the mission systems solutions they are a part of, produce stabilized high-magnification electro-optical and infrared images from airborne, marine and ground based platforms, enabling our customers to see first and act first. About the Role This is a 16 month role (with occasional 12 month opportunities available). The Production Planning Co-op holds a key responsibility for maintaining Work Order (WO) Date Integrity, ensuring timely production by analyzing Material Availability reports, opening, releasing, and closing manufacturing Work Orders. They collaborate with Inventory Control and Purchasing to address material requirements and component shortages, negotiate recovery dates with Production Supervisors, and provide critical information to the Master Scheduler. This role demands strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to create and maintain reports for Key Performance Indicators in Production Planning and Scheduling. The Co-op actively supports Continuous Improvement initiatives and is proficient in data analysis within a team-oriented environment. Primary Responsibilities + Accountable for the maintenance of Work Order (WO) Date Integrity by changing the dates in the manufacturing system based on MRP suggested actions and shortage situations + By analyzing the Material Availability reports for their specified Work Center, taking action to ensure that WO will start on time based on the WO start date + Open, release and close manufacturing Work Orders + Maintain and ensure the accuracy of all WO’s + Audit and Adjust manufacturing Kanban’s as required + Liaise with Inventory Control Group (stockroom) upcoming material requirements (kitting, POU replenishment, material movement etc.) + Communicate with Purchasing in order to provide information related to the component shortages for WO’s that start within a specified timeframe + Co-ordinate and negotiate schedule recovery dates with the Production Supervisor of the Work Center in order to maintain on time completion of the WOs + Provide critical and timely information to Master Scheduler where WO’s will not complete on time and could affect the ultimate customer completion date for Master Scheduled items + Provide weekly metrics related to on-time WO completion dates for their assigned work centers + Monitor and facilitate where possible, work flow and communication between Production Cells and other relevant departments + Provide critical scheduling information to master scheduling group in relation to the daily Operations Status meeting. + Monitor Point of Use inventory accuracy, investigating and correcting any inaccuracies in a proactive manner, and supporting the Cycle Counter in the investigation of any inventory anomalies as required + Assist the work center Supervisor with the Capacity Plan for assigned work centers + Responsible to support and complete all WIP counts (i.e., monthly and yearly.) + Demonstrate support to active programs such as Continuous Improvement, Kaizen etc. + Be conversant will all aspects of the Material Planning system + Provide ongoing metrics for Key Performance Indicators related to Production Planning and Scheduling Required Capabilities + Excellent written and verbal communication skills + Highly energized, results oriented problem solver + Strong communication skills in team environment + Timely Completion of tasks + Data analysis capability + Proficiency in MS Excel + Knowledge of SQL is an asset Desired Education and Experiences + Enrolled in a College/University level Business Program Diversity & Inclusion We believe that diversity among our employees makes us a stronger organization.
