Job in a Nutshell:

The role of the Relief Operator position is to support the production and sanitation teams by providing proficient coverage in any position where a team member is absent, or a temporary vacancy exists.  The Relief Operator’s daily assignment will be at the discretion of the Department Supervisor or Team Lead based on daily attendance.  The ideal candidate for this position should demonstrate flexibility and eagerness to learn and develop as a leader while supporting the team overall.

Responsibilities

Main Ingredients:

Learns and performs the tasks of all non-lead positions in production and sanitationThe requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability requiredSets up and adjust processing and packaging machines prior to daily operation Converts raw material into finished goods according to production scheduleCompletes necessary documentation for production and sanitation rolesMaintains standard efficiency and accuracy with machine operation and packagingVerifies accuracy of all labels and finished packagesPerforms routine cleaning, corrective adjustments, and troubleshootingAssists with break down and re-assembly of packaging equipmentOperates wash equipment and baler; removes recycle and waste materialsOperates electric pallet jack and auto-wrapperKeeps production lines stocked with packaging materials Performs pre-op setup for following production weekPerforms all tasks in a manner that promotes safety of crew membersPerforms all tasks in compliance with Food Safety standardsFollow all SSOP’s, Allergen and HACCP standards.

 

Although this is a general outline of job responsibilities all employees are expected to be “hands on” and do whatever it takes to get the job done and make the company thrive.

Qualifications

Recipe for Success:

High School diploma, GED or equivalent experience is requiredMinimum 2 years recent experience in operating food production machinery preferredKnowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices in food production preferredAbility to follow written and verbal work instructions as providedMust be able to meet daily and weekly deadlinesMust have good attention to detail, including accuracy and thoroughnessBasic computer skills required; working knowledge of production systems requiredMust have strong written and verbal communication skills Must be team-oriented and flexible to changing demands Ability to work with others in a fast-paced team environment Must be reliable and on time every dayAble to work in seasonally warm or cool environmentAbility to obtain NGVC certification electric pallet jack

Must have the ability to occasionally lift or carry up to 50 lbs.

Must be able to constantly sit, use fine motor manipulations, and reach outward for the duration of the work shift.

Must be able to frequently grip, bend, twist, and turn.

Must be able to occasionally walk, stand, squat, kneel, and reach above chest as needed.

 

Environmental Requirements:

Must be able to work occasionally with cold, heat, sharp tools and equipment, noise, contact stress, dust, fumes, and congested worksite.
