TITLE: Production Shift Lead

LOCATION: Indianapolis, IN

REPORTS TO: Department Manager


The Production Shift Lead will directly manage hourly production employees in accordance with daily safety, quality, productivity, and reliability goals.  This position also ensures compliance with other plant policies including HACCP, GMP, Food Safety, etc., as well as supports both production scheduling and planned and reactive maintenance activities. 

Core Responsibilities:

Ensuring compliance with all Plant RulesEnsuring compliance with all plant productivity requirementsEnsuring operator accountability to their job requirementsEnsuring operator staffing is appropriate for shift requirementsCoordinating/supporting compliance with production schedule requirementsCoordinating all necessary Preventative and Reactive Maintenance requirementsSupporting plant cost control initiatives and measuresCoordinating/supporting Plant Loss Accounting (OEE) systemsSupporting operations support functions, including quality and maintenanceSupporting all safety and quality initiatives, including performing and assisting in investigationsEnsuring compliance with all plant safety procedures and guidelinesCoordinating/executing plant safety training requirementsCompleting/executing all required safety and environmental inspectionsEnsuring compliance with all incident and accident investigations/reporting/corrective actionEnsuring workforce compliance with all plant quality procedures and guidelinesEnsuring all production activities are performed in accordance with all ISO and GMP requirementsSupporting customer experience activities through internal/external customer visits; sales/commercial team plant visits; and translation of customer experience to plant metricsSupporting continuous improvement projects and initiativesOffering new ideas and thinking outside the boxEnsuring team adaptability, flexibility, and readiness to changeProfessionally leading and managing production requirements with direct reportsCreating an environment conducive to teamwork on shift and with other supervisors and departmentsParticipating and/or leading teamsCoordinating completion of all employee training programsSupporting employee coaching and counseling guidelinesSupporting progressive discipline programEnsuring compliance with collective bargaining agreement between USW and Ingredion IncorporatedSupporting salaried performance management system and agreed requirementsSupporting plant management communication programsEffectively communicate with all levels of the organizationWork with little direction and lead others in a challenging, dynamic union work environmentPossess excellent multi-tasking, time management, and organizational skillsAffect change through influence and good communicationAre willing to challenge the status quo for continuous improvementConsistently demonstrate a high level of integrity, sincerity, and humilityAre proactive and innovative with a strong will to succeed

Qualified Candidates Will Have

Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Business Management or related field or 5 years of demonstrated effective supervisory experienceProficiency with Microsoft Office ApplicationsFamiliarity with SAP and Aspen.Demonstrated analytical problem-solving skillsAssertive, creative, energetic, and positive thinkingAvailability to work any shift, including holidays, nights, and weekends, including coverage for supervisor vacancies and vacations

Pay Range:

$81,680.00-$108,906.67 Annual

This pay range is not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Final base salary will be determined based on several factors which may include but are not limited to responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data and applicable bargaining agreement (if any).

Incentive Compensation:

As a part of the total compensation package, this role may be eligible for the Ingredion Annual Incentive Plan or a role-specific commission/bonus.
