Job Summary

Responsible for all activities associated with production within the United Rotorcraft Division including machining of parts, assembly, wire harness fabrication, component wiring, composites, upholstery, paint, and aircraft maintenance.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities include the following    

• Reviews manpower and capacity requirements

 

• Defines and coordinates department requirements based on workload and schedules

 

• Coordinates and prioritizes workflow based on schedule commitments

 

• Strong emphasis on schedule integrity and LEAN manufacturing processes

 

• Initiates activities associated with personnel status changes

 

• Ensures that direct reports are adequately trained and capable of performing their duties

 

• Ensures and maintains a safe work environment

 

• Participates in weekly production and program status meetings

 

• Provides estimates for proposals

 

• Coordinates and communicates with other departments including Program Management, Quality, and Engineering

 

• Other Duties as assigned

 

• Regular scheduled attendance              

 

• Indicate the percentage of time spent traveling             1%

 

Subject to applicable laws and Air Method’s policies, regular attendance is an essential function of the position.  All employees must follow Air Methods’ employment practices and policies.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities

 

Directly supervises employees in the paint, avionics, sheet metal and aircraft maintenance department.  Carries out Supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.  Responsibilities include interviewing, selecting, hiring, and training employees, planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems.  For Exempt Managers:  Managers that carry out these responsibilities for two or more employees will have significant input in hiring and termination decisions.

 

Qualifications

Education & Experience

 

• Associate’s degree (A.A./A.S.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; and five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

• Five (5) years of trade, vocational school required. 

 

• Demonstrated experience with manufacturing and production processes. 

 

• FAA Repair Station supervisory experience desired. 

 

• Experience relative to aerospace and DoD programs highly desired

 

• Experience on Bell Helicopters, Airbus and MD Helicopters preferred.

 

• Basic knowledge of aircraft painting helpful, but not required.

 

 Skills

 

• Must have good communication, analytical, and supervisory skills. 

 

• Ability to read and exchange information using the e-mail and internet system.

 

• Ability to read blueprints and operate equipment relative to area of responsibility.

 

Computer Skills

 

• Intermediate Microsoft Suite, including Word, Excel and Outlook

 

• Knowledge in MS Project preferred

 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

 

• FAA Airframe and Powerplant Certificate required
