Varian is seeking a Production Specialist to support the commercial production of specialty polymers and embolic microspheres. This role has two main focuses within the team. As a Manufacturing team member, you will have responsibility for ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient operation of production line equipment and instruments to meet business goals for safety, quality, throughput, and production yield. In addition, this role will support commercial product builds through direct execution of the most complex and technically challenging chemical manufacturing process steps on the production line.

You are responsible for:

Performing a variety of manufacturing and laboratory processes, analytical tests and other duties required to support department objectives.

Including: pH measurements, use of balances and scales, pipetting, solution mixing, calibration of instrumentation, operation of analytical equipment and viscometer, set up/use of complex laboratory equipment and glassware.

Ensuring laboratory safety through proper chemical handling, waste management and Good Manufacturing Practices.

Suggesting for modification of production line fixtures, equipment moves and process station setups.

Carrying out packaging line, manufacturing inspections and sampling and testing of incoming components and raw materials to ensure that company standards are met.

Weighing, measuring, and checking raw materials to ensure that batches manufactured contain proper ingredients in proper quantities.

Maintaining inventory records of raw materials used in batch manufacturing.

Keeping accurate and up-to-date batch records and data sheets on batches in process.

Performing in-process tests (such as weight, variation, pH and moisture content) to ensure that batches meet specifications.

Performing inspections, checks testing and sampling procedures for product manufacturing processes.

Recognizing equipment and product problems, notifies supervisor and/or troubleshoots errors in order to achieve optimum production levels.

Assisting in Improvement Projects by implementing new equipment or processes or improving existing ones for cost savings.

Supporting updates to existing documents, processes, and/or methods to correct or improve processes/product.

Sustaining and utilizing Lean Manufacturing principles throughout work environment.

Driving continuous improvement through idea generation and task execution.

Training of product builders and other manufacturing engineering technicians.

May perform other duties as assigned by supervisor/manager.

Minimum Qualifications:

Technical Degree or equivalent work experience in related discipline

A minimum of 6 years of related experience.

Ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Familiar with business tools such as: E-mail, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

​Experience with HCM (e.g., Workday) or equivalent ERP product and productivity software desired.

Experience with inspection tools such as Calipers, Micrometers and Height Gauges.

Growth mindset with attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

Chemical manufacturing or laboratory work experience

Experience with analytical measurement equipment

Experience in FDA regulated manufacturing environment
