Job Summary

Please join our team as a Production Specialist!The Production Specialist uses an understanding of Site unit operations, processes, and operating procedures to provide production floor focused support and meet daily production goals. The Production Specialist will analyze current conditions and historical data, provide instruction, and monitor the execution of planned work focused on unit KPIs. The incumbent must be able to interact effectively with plant personnel at all levels to influence desired outcomes and foster an environment of collaboration, camaraderie, and commitment.
Responsibilities
Typical duties include (but are not limited to):
⦁ Role model necessary behaviors to meet Safety Health Environmental, Quality / Food Safety, Cost, and Production goals.
⦁ Provide daily production floor technical support including monitoring process data and performance metrics, troubleshooting, and resolving production related issues in assigned manufacturing unit(s).
⦁ Monitor and evaluate key processes (example – Clean in Place, Product Change, etc.) for procedure compliance and improvement.
⦁ Lead and/or participate in incident investigations using Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) and/or other tools.
⦁ Coordinate and communicate unit daily activities including issuance of the unit’s “Daily Plan.”
⦁ Support start-up and shutting-down activities for planned and unplanned circumstances.
⦁ Assist Production Engineers and Production Manager in developing plans to meet future unit demand.
⦁ Provide coaching & counseling for hourly employees aligned with company, site, and unit goals.
⦁ Establish effective communications systems throughout the unit focused on sharing of information and engaging employees in the success of the facility.
⦁ Other duties that may be required due to dynamic changes in business focus.
Minimum five (5) years of manufacturing/processing experience -or- Chemical or Mechanical Engineering bachelor’s degree with 1-2 years experience including co-op/intern experience in lieu of experience minimum.
⦁ Demonstrated ability to collect and analyze data, identify solutions, assess risk factors, and make sound business decisions.
⦁ Demonstrated ability to role model and influence adoption of desired safety and performance standards.
⦁ Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills.
⦁ Ability to use Microsoft applications (WORD, EXCEL, POWERPOINT, etc.) and be able to learn other computer systems/databases.
Preferred
⦁ Food manufacturing experience including familiarity with centrifugation, pumping, spray drying, and process control.
⦁ Previous leadership experience including operations or maintenance supervision preferred.
⦁ Familiarity with Work Management Process and maintenance best practices.
⦁ Familiarity with Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) or similar methodologies
⦁ Demonstrated ability to use key computer-based tools including SAP and Aspen Process Explorer.
⦁ Six Sigma Certification, Lean Manufacturing Methodology, and Continuous Improvement Knowledge.
