Production Specialist - Microbiology/Engineering

Join us as our new Production Specialist This position works under general direction and is primarily responsible for investigating and proposing technology solutions to optimize and correct Culture plant processes. In this role you'll make an impact by: + Championing safety, quality, compliance, efficiency, and change management in all activities + Completing projects, optimizations, corrections, process confirmations, and safety/quality observations + Liaising between Production, Quality Control, Planning, and Commercial Development to produce and release quality product in an efficient manner + Managing and maintain assigned culture portfolio + Improving the quality and optimization of current cultures and process technology + Using systematic problem-solving techniques to correct issues and develop improvements + Working with operators and supervisors to troubleshoot equipment or product problems in the plant + Introducing new recipes and production processes for new and existing cultures + Creating training documents and reference information for operators on new processes + Supporting the validation of equipment + Participating in global network meetings To success you must hold: + Ability to read, write, and speak English + Ability to read and write technical documents that are easily understood by Operators, Technicians, et al. + Basic understanding of process flow diagrams, automation interfaces, and technical literature + Ability to understand design of experiment models in a production environment + Basic mathematical skills to analyze data and perform calculations for production (dosages, dilutions, etc.) + Basic knowledge of microbiology and product application to disposition products from test results + Proficient with Microsoft Office and other basic IT systems (document control, change control, etc.) + Basic knowledge in production systems (e.g., SAP, LIMS, Business Objects/Informatics, etc.) + Experience with project management, systematic problem solving, and LEAN/Six Sigma principles a plus + Demonstrated competence in a production environment + These characteristics may be acquired through a Bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline, such as a microbiology, food science, or engineering, and one to two years of experience in a manufacturing environment (food or biotech preferred) + PCQI Certification will be required and is supplied by internal Quality Assurance resources Could our purpose be yours?
