The Production Supervisor is responsible for duties related to the supervision of employees and department workflow in the designated wire and cable area(s). The essential duties shall support organizational objectives as associated with safety, productivity, quality/ISO and on time delivery. This position works closely with materials and shipping/receiving personnel and will communicate with managers, peers, and subordinates while providing communication, collaboration and leadership.

This is a 2nd Shift Role: 3-11PM Monday-Friday

Essential Duties:

Provide daily direction, coaching and mentoring to machine operators as necessary to contribute to achievement of all organizational objectives (i.e., safety, quality, engineering, delivery, productivity, and efficiency).Serve as approver for weekly time off and timesheets.Partner with HR to ensure; proper departmental staffing levels, completes performance reviews, interviews, and selects top candidates, conducts necessary training, and shares company communications.Work with process engineering and materials manager to support manufacturing processes. Collaborate with the materials department to ensure the resources on hand meet the needs of the active work orders.Work closely with quality and engineering when required on special products.Support activities within compliance to ISO Quality System procedures.Maintain compliance with all Marmon IEI Environmental, Health and Safety policies.Contribute, support, and communicate facility continuous improvement initiatives (i.e., Gemba board meetings).Lead production meetings and communicate necessary information related to production, quality, safety, projects, company initiatives, etc.Slate schedule populated job boards and monitor advancement of jobs through the queue as they progress.Review quality specifications for inconsistencies and escalate to the production supervisor and engineering as needed.Serve as the main point of contact for mechanical equipment issues and escalate to maintenance as needed.Support and participate in Lean/5S and process improvement initiatives.Responsible for training new machine operators and/or cross training existing operators.Work as a team with peers, managers and Marmon IEI employees.Responsible for all other projects, tasks, etc., as assigned.

Education and Experience Preferred:

High School education or GED is required. AA/BA/BS in Manufacturing or related field is preferred.8 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment with responsibilities in machine operating, leading/supervising team members is strongly preferred, but not required.A combination of equivalent of education and experience is acceptable.Wire and Cable experience is strongly preferred.

Knowledge and Skills Preferred:

Hands-on wire and cable experience strongly preferred.Ability to read and write clearly.Ability to organize works tasks efficiently.Ability to communicate efficiently with all levels of employees.Must be able to perform basic arithmetic, statistics, and other specific mathematical applications.Ability to perform basic functions in Microsoft applications.Knowledge of machines and tools, including the designs, uses, repairs, and basic maintenance.Basic knowledge of principles and processes for providing customers specific requirements and specifications.Must be able to multi-task, follow priorities given, and have strong troubleshooting techniques.Self-starter; ability to take initiative and work with minimal supervision.Strong housekeeping practices and organizational skills desired.Knowledge of business and management principles including resource allocations, basic human resources modeling, leadership techniques, production methods, coordination of people and resources, and simplification techniques.

Working Conditions and/or Physical Requirements:

Ability to work in a manufacturing environment that can be noisy.Ability to follow safety guidelines and wear required PPE.Ability to work long hours while standing and operating/performing basic maintenance on machinery.Ability to work in high temperatures.Ability to move objects and materials of at least 50lbs.
