Directly supervises and coordinates the work of a production shift made up of operations, technicians, and support employees and provides motivation and work direction in accordance with Company policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervise 20-40 employees in Molding and After Molding Operations (AMO).Staff and maintain a fully qualified and efficient team to meet production objectives.Create and maintain an environment that motivates employees to perform to their potential by coaching employees in proper teaming methods.Coordinate the Production Floor operations comprised of molding, assembly, blending, and set-up.Set up production floor (Molding and AMO) with machine assignments according to machine load for day’s schedule, includes rework duties, other specific jobs requiring labor, break schedule and coverage, and order changes early in shift.Communicate at beginning of shift with up-to-date production activity and attainment of scheduled orders related to ship dates.Communicate daily staffing numbers in labor report.Assist with manufacturing engineering, toolshop, and maintenance departments for the purchase of tooling and auxiliary equipment.Assist with Manufacturing Engineering, New Product Development, Tool Shop, and Quality Assurance in sampling new molds and getting molds and machines on a standard cycle producing acceptable quality parts.Assist with development and maintenance of production standards and methods, forecasting, and reporting on variable department expense.Monitor the operations and make cost effective changes to existing methods to improve production, quality and manufacturing costs.Follow up on all manufacturing problems, cost overruns, etc. relevant to labor, material, and equipment.Provide for efficient operating methods and adherence to company policies, rules, and regulations.Track and maintain: attendance variations in Sharepoint, timekeeping records in Kronos, vacation requests and needed coverage, all daily performance issues and all relevant documents in Sharepoint, all temporary staffing for timekeeping records.Maintain performance reviews and make recommendations on wage adjustments, promotions, or terminations.Maintain daily communication sheet for shift changeovers for both departments, including all quality related issues, excessive downtime events, and machine status at end of shift.Motivate associates in the interest of productivity, quality, morale, safety regulations, and good housekeeping in accordance with company policy.Maintain a clean, healthy, and safe workplace by ensuring adherence to safety standards and good manufacturing practices.Review and address all Lighthouse related issues communicated through daily Lighthouse reports, including all out of spec readings and/or quality related issues that are communicated through the comments report.Maintain daily communication sheet for shift changeovers to include all quality related issues, excessive downtime events, and machine status at time of shift change.Conduct biweekly shift meetings to communicate shift performance and address any concerns/questions from staff related to production needs, procedures or policies.Lead teams and complete special projects as required.Designate, direct, and train hourly employee to cover in absence of supervisor.Perform all other duties and special projects as assigned by manager.Follow and enforce applicable Food Safety and cGMP polices. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
High School diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree in business or related field preferred Minimum of five years previous supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment preferred. Computer literate, knowledge of Lotus Notes, Excel, Mattec and JDE preferred. Ability to multi-task and coordinate activities with other departments while maintaining a positive “can do” attitude. Good communication skills, both verbal and written
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
