Indiana Educational Resource Center (IERC): The IERC is a statewide, centralized repository of Accessible Education Materials (AEM) for school-age students who are blind or visually impaired or have other documented print disabilities, in local education agencies (LEA). In addition to the centralized, statewide depository, the IERC also houses and manages a Braille Transcription Project and oversees the Miami Accessible Media Project located at the Miami Correctional Facility in Bunker Hill, Indiana. Salary: This intermittent position traditionally starts at $17.54 per hour. Salary for this position may be commensurate with education and job experience. A Day in the Life: The essential functions of this role are as follows: + Provide daily support for braille, large print, tactile graphics, and accessible media departments. + Coordinate production schedules to meet deadlines. + Maintain communication with IERC, vendors, and consumers. + Update and manage documents and databases. What You'll Need for Success: You must meet the following requirements to be considered for employment: + Must be at least 21 years of age. + Intermediate skills with the Internet, data entry, spreadsheets, and word processing, specifically with Microsoft Word, Access, and Excel; Windows PC; and Adobe Acrobat. + Working knowledge of business English, spelling, punctuation, and correspondence format. + Proficient in organizing information and establishing efficient workflows. + Ability to accept and follow instructions from supervisors; responds constructively to training and coaching. + Ability to organize workload efficiently, meet tight deadlines, solve problems effectively, and perform duties independently with minimal supervision. + Tactful and polite in dealing with visitors and telephone calls; able to answer non-technical questions. + Ability to maintain records in a timely and organized manner. + Ability to read and act on department documents. + Ability to work in a team environment. + Willingness to work closely with project employees in a correctional setting and other Miami Correctional staff. + Abide by all guidelines set forth in training sessions and the policies and regulations of the Miami Correctional Facility and ISBVI. + Handle confidential records and other matters judiciously. + Observe safety precautions in carrying out assigned duties. Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports: This role may be utilized in a supervisory capacity based on agency needs.
