Production Team Leader I, Mixing

Ecolab, the leading global developer of premium cleaning, sanitizing and maintenance products and services for the hospitality, institutional and industrial markets is seeking a Production Team Leader, Mixing, to join our Supply Chain team in Mississauga.

The Production Team Leader (Supervisor), Mixing is accountable for providing leadership and monitoring of the day-to-day production of a team of Mixing Associates supporting chemical production mixing, including planning, scheduling and work assignment. Demonstrating Ecolab values of Safety, Quality and Production, the role ensures Ecolab policies and procedures and quality standards are implemented and monitored within the work unit.

What You Will Do:

Execute the day-to-day production function in the Mississauga Production unit and oversee the workflow and schedule of employees to ensure the daily production schedule is met.Ensure every reasonable precaution is taken for the protection of team members, report hazards/incidents without delay, and perform a complete investigation of each accident. Through a strong floor presence, coordinate the effective utilization of labour, equipment and materials including Manage staffing, workflow and resources to ensure efficiencies are achieved.Monitor safety and quality standards for the work unit.  Recommend areas where safety and quality can be improved and take action when required.Update plans as appropriate to reflect changes in priorities or workflow.Attract, train, review, develop and motivate employees to optimize the achievement of plant objectives. Promote teamwork and a positive team environment.Translate production unit goals and objectives into individual targets, timelines and quality standards for each Ecolab employee in the team.Implement and monitor Ecolab policies and procedures, and take corrective action as needed.Coordinate training for employees in safety, policy/process changes.Develops networks with other departments, division and functions within Ecolab, as well as with customers and vendors external to Ecolab.  Deal with equipment failure or other issues that may arise in the plant. Interact with maintenance to maintain and repair equipment/projects.Perform investigations of off specification material and take the appropriate action.Control materials usage and investigate lossesMaintain Compliance with regulatory agencies.The position will also be responsible to provide back up support to the Production or Mixing/Bulk function, as well as providing back up coverage during the absence of another member of the Production Supervisory team.

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma and 4 years of manufacturing experience OR Bachelors degreeStrong communication skillsImmigration sponsorship not provided for this role

Preferred Qualifications:

University degree or college diploma in science, chemical engineering, manufacturing/industrial engineering or closely related physical sciences or business administration with a concentration in operations or supply chain management. Production experience in a process or batch-manufacturing environment. Experience in supervising the work of others.Experience in production processes in an ISO 9001, food or GMP plant.Experience in shipping hazardous materials (TDG regulated) preferred.Experience with continuous improvement is preferred.Excellent interpersonal, communication (written and verbal), and problem solving skills.High attention to detail and persistence in resolving issues and discrepancies.Time management and organization skills.Proven ability to work in a fast-paced work environment.Knowledge of chemistry, statistical process control, WHMIS (Workplace Hazardous Material Information System), Transportation of Dangerous Goods Act, the Ontario Health and Safety Act, and environmental regulations.Knowledge of GPL and GMP regulations Canadian Good Laboratory proceduresWorking knowledge of regulatory requirements (WHMIS, MOL, CEPA, HAZMA, OSHA)Knowledge of line balancing; experience in process planning preferredComputer literacy, including extensive experience with standard Microsoft Office software

Working Conditions and Physical Demands

The position primarily involves working and monitoring production on the Plant floor and also involves working in an office setting, using a computer and telephone.Work is carried out in a plant environment with continuous exposure to disagreeable elements of the plant such as noise, and occasional exposure to chemicals. The role may be exposed to extreme temperatures and may be exposed to chemicals.From time to time, the position may be required to lift/carry 50 pounds.
