The Owens Corning Rockford IL is a premier manufacturing facility that manufactures extruded polystyrene foam board insulation for primary use in the construction industry.

Summary

Owens Corning is looking for Machine Operators with manufacturing background in a fast-paced production environment. We are seeking ambitious, self-driven candidates with leadership experience or that are motivated to develop into a leadership role and grow with the company.

The primary objective of this position is to understand, manage, and safely operate all aspects of the downline process.

 

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Tend production lines and interact with equipment using HMI/PLC interfaces Safely operate a forklift Accurately perform board quality inspections Accurately measure objects using a standard tape measure, six-inch scale, and digital caliper Accurately enter information into multiple databases Operate unit wrapper and perform all associated tasks Operate board grinders and prepare and feed scrap products Operate compactor equipment and associated tasks Properly set up and operate cutting machine Operate printer equipment and bar code machine Operate a tow motor and obtain license Learn and comply with all Owens Corning safety policies along with all other plant rules Maintain a clean, orderly work area that is in compliance with 5S standards Maintain high level of attendance All other duties as assigned or needed

 

Skills and Abilities

Good mechanical aptitude Ability to do basic mathematical calculations Must be able to read a scale and tape measure Ability to accomplish tasks without direct supervision

 

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

High School Diploma or GED Equivalent Minium of 1 year experience in an industrial manufacturing environment

 

Essential Physical Requirements/Work Environment

Ability to routinely lift up to 50 lbs. without assistance Work up to 12 hours in hot/cold manufacturing environment Walk/stand on concrete floor continuously for up to 12 hours Safeguard self with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) - steel-toed shoes, eye protection (glasses, goggles, and/or facemask) hearing protection and long-sleeved shirt (with shirt tail tucked in) as necessary for task
