MISSION:

To assemble complex segmented patterns in a dimensionally controlled fixture in preparation for the gating process.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITY:

General

To inspect pattern components and dimensional fixture prior to loading.Pre-inspects pattern and dimensional fixture prior to start of assembly.Reads and follows technique card assembly instructions, which describe numerous unique assembly steps of a complex nature; plans the methods for completing a given assignment and selects among alternative assembly methods.

 Assembly

To accurately assemble complex multi-component patterns to maintain dimensional integrity.Assembles complex multi-component patterns by means of torch, hot pencils, and a variety of hand tools.Assembles complex patterns using full-time dimensional fixturing to maintain dimensional control and stability.Manipulates fixture/pattern components to remove configuration discrepancies and verify dimensional integrityPossibly develops code sheets for engineering-requested modifications or deviations to standard assemblies.Inspects assemblies during and after the assembly process to detect defects and ensure quality.

ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS:

Ability to apply pattern assembly techniques, methods, materials, fixturing and construction.Experience assembling wax patterns and/or pattern finishing is preferred or the equivalent experienceAbility to communicate and work effectively with others.Ability to work in a team environment and promote team development.Ability to read and follow complex written instructions.Ability to lift and/or maneuver objects weighing thirty to fifty pounds and occasionally up to one hundred twenty-five pounds with assistance.Ability to work in conditions which may include exposure to noise, fumes, crowding, awkward physical positions, abrasions, cuts, and chemicals.
