Professional Coding Services Lead - Outpatient Services Location: WellSpan Health, York, PA Schedule: Full Time Schedule Full-time: 40hrs/wk Hours: Monday - Friday, 7:00am-3:30pm Remote opportunity General Summary Assists in oversight of the daily operations and work activities of the Professional Coding team. Acts in a leadership role in the absence of the assigned manager. Duties and Responsibilities Essential Functions: + Oversees the work of other personnel by training, allocating and monitoring work. Performs work of a Coder. + May perform audits on other staff members' work. + Reviews, maintains, reconciles and/or corrects a variety of reports. + May interact with vendors and other business associates. + May assist staff with coding, claim edit, and follow up questions, issues, and workflow. + Acts as a resource for coding staff, Patient Financial Services, Customer Service, Project One, and practices. + Assists in training new hires as well as training for existing employees as needed. + Maintains knowledge of coding guidelines. + Able to perform workflows in Epic with proficiency. Common Expectations: + Establishes and maintains communication with ancillary departments/entities to facilitate problem solving and continuous process improvement. + Assists in developing, establishing and maintaining policies, procedures and standards. + Participates in educational programs and meetings. + Provides outstanding service to all customers, fosters teamwork, and practices fiscal responsibility through improvement and innovation. Required Licenses: + Certified Professional Coder Upon Hire Required or + Certified Coding Specialist - Physician Based Upon Hire Required or + Certified Medical Coder Upon Hire Required or + Registered Health Information Technician Upon Hire Required Courses and Training: + Specialty Coding Certification Upon Hire Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: + Excellent customer service, communication and interpersonal skills and computer skills. + Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT Coding.
