Job Description

The Professional Practice Leader (PPL) is a dynamic and corporate leadership position. As a corporate resource, you will ensure practice, education, evidence based care and process standardization where appropriate across programs and health systems. Your responsibility as a PPL will be to facilitate excellence in patient care through collaboration, communication and support of nursing practice and education initiatives to ensure best practice and quality care. You will act as a central corporate practice and education resource for nursing to support knowledge to practice.

Accountabilities:

Nursing practice standards and document developmentCritical appraisal of researchKnowledge and implication of relevant health care legislation and changesQuality improvement and patient safetyLean methodologyOngoing/continuing professional developmentEnsures that patient care activities are consistent with the philosophy, goals, standard of care and standards of practice of the discipline team and OslerCollaborates with Osler leaders related to all practice issues and supports to guide clinical decision making for all team membersEnsures that nursing staff members are appropriately orientated and educated regarding to changes as they related to policy and clinical decision toolsSupports development and ongoing attainment of core and unit based competenciesIntegration of new processes and equipmentCollaborates with patient care managers and other leaders to identify areas for practice improvementMaintains active dialogue with nursing staff and, where appropriate, facilitates co-operation in developing, implementing, integrating and modifying nursing practice and team processes to meet patient care needs and outcomesSupports nursing electronic documentation and clinical informatics

QualificationsCurrent registration and in good standing with the College of Nurses of OntarioMinimum five years recent clinical experience in a hospital settingBScN requiredMaster's degree preferredCertification in specialist area(s) desirable or demonstrated ongoing continuing educationExperience in development of policies and procedures an assetExperience in adult education an assetDemonstrated excellent interpersonal, communication, presentation, critical thinking, project management and organizational skillsDemonstrated ability to investigate, develop, plan and deliver educational material based on evidence-based practiceHighly motivated, self-directed with demonstrated ability to provide leadership within an inter-disciplinary teamPrevious leadership roles an assetProject management experience an assetFluent in English (comprehension, reading, writing and speaking)Computer literacy and skill in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint)Required to work and travel between all Osler sitesMust demonstrate Osler's Values of Respect, Excellence, Service, Compassion, Innovation and Collaboration

Hours: Currently days, Monday to Friday (subject to change in accordance with operational requirements)

Annual Salary:

Minimum: $96,681.00/yearly
Maximum: $120,841.50/yearly
