Central Maine Healthcare is seeking a Professional Practice Program Manager to join our team at Central Maine Medical Center!

Position Summary: 

Reporting to the Director of Acute Care Nursing at Central Maine Medical Center the Professional Practice Program Manager strategically directs Professional Practice within nursing for Central Maine Healthcare. This role includes overall coordination and management of the New Graduate Nurse Residency Program. Demonstrates expertise, management and leadership abilities, and a comprehensive understanding of the issues and industry standards affecting Professional Practice. Working with nursing leaders across the organization, this individual assumes primary responsibility for ensuring the Division of Nursing consistently meets The Joint Commission’s Provision of Care standards.

Education and Experience:

Current nursing registration in the State of Maine.Masters of Science in Nursing or equivalent higher degree.Minimum five years of progressive leadership experience required.

Essential Duties:

Provides leadership and direction that supports the organization’s strategic goals in accordance with federal, state, and local laws and industry regulations.Works with CMHC leaders to create an exemplary organization committed to providing exceptional healthcare services in a safe and trustful environment through the expertise, commitment, and compassion of our caregivers. Serves as a professional role model, leader and mentor for all members of the healthcare team.Mentors and coaches nurses in the New Graduate Residency Program including goal setting and skill development.Works with the Human Resources department, system leaders and local universities to develop recruitment strategies for new graduate nurses.Assists in coordination of the onboarding of new graduate nurses, in collaboration with unit leaders, to ensure a smooth transition for the novice nurse into the workforce.Develops and implements a standardized curriculum for the New Graduate Nurse Residency Program in collaboration with the Professional Development department.Evaluates the Nurse Residency program outcomes and reports outcomes to appropriate stakeholders.Participates in the development, oversight and implementation of professional development activities including Nursing’s Strategic Plan. Oversees Nursing’s Shared Governance Councils.Participates in performance improvement initiatives that enhance staff professional development.   In collaboration with the Quality Department, reviews and incorporates the Joint Commission’s elements of performance (EPs) specific to The Provision of Care Standards into nursing’s policies and procedures.Supports nursing leadership in ensuring the measurement, assessment and improvement of EPs across Nursing.Completes TJC standards self-assessment activities specific to The Provision of Care Standards through the intracycle monitoring process.Updates the Division of Nursing policies per CMH’s Policy on Policies.Maintains current knowledge of Magnet Standards and Sources of Evidence.Coordinated Daisy Award recognition programOversees the Professional Advancement Programs at CMH
