Job Description
Job Summary:
The primary responsibility of this Professional Services Engineer is to deploy hardware and software, configure systems, and tune solutions which have been designed by the pre-sales engineering team. These tasks may be performed remotely or there may be the requirement to perform these tasks by being physically on a customer site. In this position you may be required to remotely supervise partner technicians/engineers while they perform on site hardware installation tasks. In this position you may also be required to remotely connect to systems in DDN integration facility and perform software installation, configuration and tuning prior to the system shipping from the factory.
Principal duties and responsibilities for this role include but are not limited to:
Have a thorough technical understanding of the various DDN product lines so that deployments can go smoothly. Know where to gain assistance from either the Systems Engineer or engineering when required. Physically install hardware at a customer site. Supervise “smart hands” to do so if appropriate either on site or remotely. Remotely or on site, install, configure and tune software as required by the solution’s design. Provide technical training for customer installations and prepare reports and other required customer documentation. Participate with internal lab solutions (in person or remotely) to set up configurations for new designs to assure that there is the understanding of how they work. Help create hardware and or software documentation as required by the business. Teach internal and or customer classes as required by the business. Contribute content to the Professional Services related sections of Installation Planning Guides or Technical Implementation Plans as required by the business. Participate in customer-focused seminars, tradeshows, events, and training as required by the business. Manage customer relationship during the deployment phase to ensure the highest calibre customer satisfaction. The role includes travel to customer sites in ANZ (this is usually at most 1 week per month).
This role requires:
Australian citizenship and Australian Government Security Clearance (preferably at NV2 level).
Qualifications:
BS or higher degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Sciences; or equivalent is required.
Skills and Experience:
At least 10 years of hands-on experience with storage system design and networking, planning, implementation, managing & troubleshooting. Experience will most likely come from working with High Performance Computing HPC systems at customer sites or with HPC vendors or integratorsMentoring experience at Customer sitesStrong Linux skills
