Leadership for Professional Services Lead at HDR in Canada consists of overseeing, coordinating, and directing the business classes who are responsible for project delivery excellence in their specialized discipline. This individual will be a key partner to the business group manager, market sector leads and department managers so that the team functions as a unit and that delivery teams are empowered, supported and that staff have career development opportunities. There are ten business classes in Canada Transportation including Highways, Planning, Traffic Engineering, Bridges Structures, Program Management, Transit Engineering, Rail Transit Systems, Transport Hydraulics, Construction Administration and Freight. This role will have a dotted line to the Cross Sector Business Class Leads to further develop BGX in Canada.
The Professional Services Leader will report to the Canadian Transportation Business Group manager. In addition, the Leader will be connected to Business Group Professional Services Directors around the company to maintain HDR’s collaborative team environment. The Leader will function as Principal-in-Charge/Senior Project Manager/Quality Manager and take responsibility for production on projects in addition to operations and business development responsibilities, as necessary and appropriate. Direct reports include the Business Class leaders and technical staff.
Primary Responsibilities
Provide oversight to the engineering, planning and construction administration technical services across the transportation business groupEnhance and promote technical skills development Contribute to workload leaders with technical staff assignment to projects Quality program direction, in alliance with Canada Quality Lead, including staffing quality program assignments to projects, implementation of quality, standards and best practices across the operationLeadership and participation in technical reviews, includes PARR participation Technical learning path development and mentoring Technical and digital delivery evolutionExecute HDR standard practices, procedures and approaches Support overall strategy, development, and leadership for each Business ClassAdvance HDRs technical industry presence at conferences and through external learning opportunitiesSecondary ResponsibilitiesInput and leadership to pursuit strategiesRecruitingCross Business Group and Cross Sector ChampionTake an active role in communities, committees and advancing industry issuesPreferred QualificationsA minimum of 15 years' experience.Professional Engineer (P.Eng) license.Excellent communication, leadership and organizational skills.Knowledge of the local market.Evidence of strategic thinking and a collaborative approach to problem solvingExcellent communication skills.
