UPMC Hamot is hiring a Professional Staff Nurse to join the Operating Room! This position is part of the Night Program which consists of four 10-hour night shifts a week with no on-call requirements! The Night Program also includes a $4.00/hr shift differential! We are seeking a candidate with experience in both circulating and scrubbing in an OR environment.
We have a 17 suite operating room that offers wide variety of specialties from Robotics, Kidney Transplants, Trauma and almost everything in between. We provide high quality care for both our elective and urgent patients from infant to geriatrics. Role Overview: The Professional Staff Nurse OR is a Registered Nurse responsible for setting care standards and providing nursing care. This role involves leadership, collaboration, and supervision to achieve desired patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Patient Care: Manage and provide care for patients and their families, using independent judgment and collaboration.
+ Professional Development: Engage in activities that improve professional practice and patient care quality.
+ Team Collaboration: Actively participate in team efforts, shared governance, and quality improvement initiatives.
+ Communication: Effectively communicate patient conditions and care plans to other providers.
+ Education: Teach patients, families, students, and new staff, applying adult learning principles.
+ Quality Improvement: Identify and participate in quality improvement efforts.
+ Work-Life Balance: Maintain a balance between work and personal life, modeling safe work hours and healthy lifestyles.
+ Scrub Role: Perform scrub duties (required for RNs hired on or after July 1, 2023).
+ Additional Duties: Perform other duties as assigned, adhering to system-wide competencies and behaviors.
Requirements:
+ Patient Care: Demonstrate knowledge and skills to care for patients of all ages, understanding growth and development principles.
+ Experience: OR experience required.
+ Relationships: Build positive, caring relationships with all healthcare team members and patients/families.
+ Work Environment: Handle multiple priorities and specialized equipment effectively.
+ Clinical Judgment: Use critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills in patient care.
+ Physical Requirements: Mobility, manual dexterity, and physical stamina for frequent walking, standing, lifting, and positioning of patients.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
+ Certification: UPMC-approved national certification preferred.
+ Licensure: Current RN license or Temporary Practice Permit (TPP) in the relevant state.
+ CPR: Required within 30 days of hire (AHA standards).
+ Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR
+ Clearances: Act 33, Act 34, Act 73 FBI Clearance (with renewal).
