UPMC Hamot is hiring a Casual Professional Staff Nurse to join Pediatrics in the Women’s Hospital!

Title and Salary will be determined based upon education and nursing experience.

Purpose: The Professional Staff Nurse, a Registered Nurse, is responsible for setting the standards and quality of care while managing patient care through independent judgment, communication, and collaboration. This role involves leadership, partnership, and supervision, working closely with physicians, healthcare providers, patients, and families to achieve positive outcomes. The nurse is committed to both the community and the nursing profession.

Responsibilities:

Builds productive internal and external working relationships through accountability, enthusiasm, and commitment to patients and colleagues. Recognizes and respects cultural differences, encouraging healthy peer relationships. Maintains a balance between work and personal life, modeling effective time management and a healthy lifestyle. Uses critical thinking to address clinical, social, psychological, and safety concerns in patient care. Demonstrates strong communication skills, effectively conveying patient conditions and making care recommendations. Ensures comprehensive patient documentation to facilitate communication between caregivers. Aligns with organizational goals to enhance patient safety, quality, and satisfaction. Provides patient-centered care, building compassionate relationships with patients, families, and colleagues. Applies adult learning principles in teaching patients, families, students, and new staff, supporting their transition and development. Actively supports the growth of students, new staff, and peers, fostering open dialogue and continuous improvement. Participates in quality improvement efforts, identifying opportunities for enhancement and supporting evidence-based practices. Takes accountability for professional development, contributing to improved care quality and the practice environment. Engages in shared governance, goal setting, and adapts flexibly to change in order to improve patient care and work environments.
