Professional Staff Nurse - casual (EMERGENCY Dept.)
**Step into a vital role as a Professional Staff Nurse in Venango County’s only Emergency Department—where every shift brings the opportunity to care for patients of all ages, make critical decisions, and be a true lifesaver in our community.** **If you’re passionate about delivering top-notch, fast-paced care with heart and expertise, this is the place for you!** + Apply nursing process with Relationship Based Care to create a healing, patient-centered environment. + Develop daily patient care plans that address clinical, social, safety, psychological, and spiritual needs. + Communicate clearly and effectively with patients, families, and the care team to coordinate and optimize care. + Document comprehensively to ensure seamless communication between caregivers. + Participate actively in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient safety, care quality, and satisfaction. + Use evidence-based practice and research to drive clinical improvements and patient care decisions. + Build and maintain respectful, culturally sensitive relationships with patients, colleagues, and external partners. + Educate and support patients, families, students, and new staff with effective teaching and mentorship. + Commit to professional development and engage in shared governance to improve care and work environment. + Collaborate fully with the care team, supporting colleagues and responding proactively to patient needs + Minimum 1 year RN experience REQUIRED. + Knowledge of growth and development principles across the lifespan to provide age-appropriate patient care. + Ability to assess and interpret patient data to meet individual needs per department policies. + Strong clinical judgment, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. + Ability to build positive relationships with healthcare teams, patients, and families. + Comfortable working in a fast-paced, complex environment with multiple priorities and specialized equipment. + Physical stamina for frequent walking, standing, and patient positioning. Licensure & Certifications: + Current RN licensure (state or multistate compact). + CPR/BLS certification required within 30 days of hire. + ACLS, PALS, CCMC, and NIH Stroke Scale certifications to be obtained within specified timeframes post-hire. + Compliance with background clearances (Act 33, Act 34, Act 73 FBI). **UPMC is an Equal Opportunity Employer/Disability/Veteran**
