UPMC Carlisle is looking for a Professional Staff Nurse (RN) for their Float Pool!

This role will involve floating between 3 inpatient units at UPMC Carlisle – Post Operative Acute Care, Inpatient Rehab, and Acute Cardiac & Neurology.

Position Summary:

Ø  Full-Time, 36 hours per week (3, 12-hours shifts)

Ø  Night Shift (7pm – 7am) – Night Differential is provided. 

Ø  Every other weekend, every other holiday, no on-call.

Ø  10% differential will be included in hourly rate to account for floating between units.

Ø  Minimum of 1-year of RN experience strongly preferred. 

 

This position is eligible for a sign-on bonus!

1+ years of experience:  2-year commitment, $20,000 sign-on bonus. 

 

Purpose

The Professional Staff Nurse (RN) is a valuable member of the care delivery team – setting the standards for the quality of patient care. This role provides a variety of patient care activities to a group of patients and their families through the application of independent judgment, communication, and collaboration with colleagues. 

The Professional Staff Nurse encompasses leadership, partnership, collaboration, and supervision. In this role, establishing and maintaining collaborative relationships with physicians, other healthcare professionals, patients, and their families is vital to achieving the best patient outcomes and continuum of care. The Professional Staff Nurse Demonstrates a commitment to the community and to the nursing profession. 

 

Responsibilities:

Provides patient care by floating between 3 units at UPMC Carlisle – Post Operative Acute Care, Inpatient Rehab, and Acute Cardiac & Neurology.   Creates daily goals and plans of care for patients, involving the patient as partner and considering their individual needs in a holistic way. Utilizes critical thinking skills and knowledge of evidence-based practices (relative to specialty area) to improve their patients’ plans of care. Practices solid communication skills and can articulate the patient’s condition to other care providers, offering recommendations for changes in patient care / unit practices & communicating any safety hazards to peers and leadership. Provides patient documentation that is comprehensive and promotes communication between caregivers. Creates a healing environment for patients by applying a Relationship Based Care framework to their nursing process.  Demonstrates knowledge of adult learning principles (and/or teaching children if applicable) and applies in teaching of patients, families, students and new staff. Supports the development of students, new staff and colleagues, may serve as a preceptor.
