The new graduate school will provide academic instruction relevant to public health and serve as a focus of research activities directed toward community health problems, as it maintains and grows relationships with all entities interested in public health. The school will offer master's and doctoral programs in public health. The Department seeks to identify successful mid to senior-level faculty candidates (Associate or Full Professor) with demonstrated research portfolios and scholarly publications; experience in teaching coursework appropriate to graduate-level instruction in epidemiology, brain health, neurological and neurodegenerative diseases, neuropathology, and aging. Faculty will be expected to contribute formally to the academic curricula development, mentorship, leadership, and teaching within an interdisciplinary research team, particularly in the areas described (brain health, etc.). A medical degree (MD) with experience treating Alzheimer’s and cognitive disorders is preferred. The Department of Quantitative and Qualitative Health Sciences welcomes candidates whose experience will contribute to teaching graduate-level courses, preferably bridging the intersection of public health and clinical students. Teaching responsibilities will include teaching public health students, post-docs, and medical students collaborating in the epidemiology of aging and dementia research. The candidate will support public health students in developing a shared language that enables effective collaboration with clinical students after graduation. We invite applications from distinguished scholars renowned for their work in epidemiological and population research related to Alzheimer’s disease, other dementias, stroke, cerebrovascular disorders, or other neurological conditions. Ideal candidates should have advanced training in Epidemiology or Clinical Investigation (M.S., M.S.c., M.P.H., or Ph.D.). Applicants must have a proven track record of impactful research and success in securing external funding (e.g., NIH, CDC, AHRQ, PCORI, etc.). Experience in academic leadership, program development, and fostering multidisciplinary collaboration is highly desirable. Senior faculty will also actively engage in mentoring opportunities for masters and doctoral-level students, postdoctoral fellows, and early-career faculty. The candidate will contribute to existing T-32 programs and assist with developing similar future opportunities. The selected candidate will establish an independent, grant-funded research program, collaborate on major projects like the San Antonio Heart Mind Study, and engage in external partnerships. Expertise in population health, community engagement, and health disparities is essential. This position provides a unique opportunity to contribute to impactful research and teaching addressing public health challenges in aging and neurological diseases. The ideal candidate must have a strong record of scholarly productivity and funding to be considered. Employees who work at least 20 hours a week, with an appointment of at least 4.5 months, are eligible for benefits. Medical - UT SELECT Medical insurance is offered free for employees and administered by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas. Family members can be added to the plan through payroll deduction. Time Off- A generous leave program offers multiple paid leave options: Front-loaded Paid Time Off: 128 to 208 hours (16 to 26 days) of Paid Time Off based on years of service, given at the start of each fiscal year. PTO may be prorated in year one based on date of hire. Extended Illness Bank: 8 hours (1 day) accrued per month which can be used for illness or injury after one day of Paid Time Off is taken. Paid Family Leave: Up to 240 hours (6 weeks) to care for a spouse, child, or parent after 6 months of consecutive employment. Holidays: 12 set paid holidays each fiscal year. FSAs- Employees can enroll in flexible spending accounts (FSAs) to set aside money from earnings before taxes for qualifying dependent day care expenses or out-of-pocket health care expenses.
