The newly established Department of Global Environmental and Occupational Health GEOH formerly the Maryland Institute for Applied Environmental Health within the University of Maryland School of Public Health SPH seeks an outstanding senior researcher and leader for the position of Professor amp Clark Leadership Chair in Global Health The Clark Leadership Chair in Global Health is supported by a generous gift from the A James and Alice B Clark Foundation to promote interdisciplinary learning and research in fields of critical importance to the global community Endowed funds are made available annually to support the salary and research initiatives of the Clark Leadership Chair In this position the successful candidate will take a leading role in advancing global health research and scholarship in the Department lead a collaborative externally funded interdisciplinary research program teach and mentor students and provide service to the university and professionCurrently GEOH includes a diverse group of 11 tenuredtenure track faculty and 40 professional track faculty focused on impactful research scholarship training practice and community engagement across a number of domains including airborne infectious disease transmission climate change and health water quality water reuse and water sanitation and hygiene WASH environmental justice cumulative environmental health risks occupational health air and dietary contaminants and One Health GEOH currently offers six academic degree programs a new BS in Global Health launched in Fall 2024 a new Environmental Justice Specialization launched in Fall 2024 within a BS in Environmental Science amp Policy in collaboration with our College of Agriculture amp Natural Resources an MPH with a concentration in Environmental Health Sciences an MS and PhD in Environmental Health Sciences and a post baccalaureate certificate in Global Health The successful candidate will have the opportunity to contribute to and help grow our new BS in Global Health and help envision future graduate programs in Global HealthSalary and appointment date This will be a 9 month tenure track position at the rank of Professor in the School of Public Health with potential for affiliate appointments in other schools colleges and institutes on the College Park Campus and within the University System of Maryland Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience and the 9 month salary will range from 190000 to 225000 Additional summer salary up to 3333 of the 9 month salary could be drawn from endowment funds research funds andor teaching activities The University of Maryland offers a comprehensive benefits package Appointment will begin in 2025To be considered for this position applicants should submit 1 a current curriculum vitae 2 a single letter of intent that a describes their interest in the position b includes a research statement describing their previous experience and future research goals c describes their leadership teaching and mentoring experience and future plans in these areas and d includes a statement that details their commitment to promoting diversity equity and inclusion in their scholarship teaching and mentoring activities and 3 contact information for three references who will be contacted at a later date
