Faculty Rank or Job Title Professor and Chair, Teacher Education and Leadership Studies Job Category: Faculty/Instructional Department College of Health, Education and Human Services EEO number: 25Y007 Position FTE 100% Minimum Annual or Hourly Rate Negotiable Salary Band: NA FA Job Summary/Basic Function: Position will lead the School of Education and Leadership, chairing both Teacher Education and Leadership Studies in Education and Organizations departments with responsibility for maintaining and strengthening accredited programs in Teacher Education and growing enrollment in both Teacher Education and Leadership Studies. Candidate is expected to bring extensive experience in assessment and accreditation to the institution to position programs for growth and success within region and beyond. Minimum Qualifications Terminal degree in Organizational Leadership, Teacher Education or closely related field.
Preferred Qualifications 5+ years in Higher Education leadership
Significant experience in Assessment and Accreditation. Essential Functions and percent of time: Academic Affairs: (30%) Administering the programs within the department, including the development and evaluation of programs, program reviews, ongoing assessment and/or accreditation as appropriate Scheduling classes and assigning faculty to teach courses within the department, in consultation with the associate dean and other department chairs Faculty Affairs: (30%) Leading the faculty in interpreting academic regulations and maintaining high quality programs Encouraging faculty research and scholarship while assisting in grant writing, acquisition, and management Conducting the annual review of faculty performance and their promotion and tenure processes Implementing the college’s adopted program of Faculty Professional Development Maintaining department records (e.g., syllabi, faculty records and meeting minutes) Overseeing implementation of appropriate collective bargaining agreement procedures Essential Functions and percent of time (cont'd): Student Affairs (20%) Collaborating with the student success division for advising functions, including conducting licensure advising Overseeing the appointment and progress of program advisory committees Coordinating recruitment and retention activities as well as planning and hosting alumni events General Administration (10%) Overseeing routine departmental tasks, such as textbook orders, grade changes, and licensure applications Collaborating with the Dean in determining the resources needed to carry out current instructional programs Administering the budget for the department. Assuring compliance with Wright State fiscal policies Supervising staff and conducting their annual performance appraisals Raising funds with the University’s development office to support students, programs, and initiatives Performing other duties as assigned by the dean Community Partnerships and Professional Associations (10%) Attending partnership activities/meetings, including local, state, and national meetings for associations and other professional organizations as appropriate (conferences, webinars, etc.) Fostering strong collaborative relationships with local and state-wide partners as appropriate Non-Essential Functions and percent of time: Working Conditions Special Instructions to Applicants Posting Date 09/27/2024 First Consideration Date: 10/28/2024 Closing Date Open Until Filled Yes Supplemental Questions
