Position Description
The McCoy College of Business at Texas State University invites applications for theDean Denise T. Smart Endowed Chair in Business.This is a full-time, endowed, tenured faculty position at the rank of Professor. We seek outstanding candidates with distinctive disciplinary expertise in marketing. The appointee is expected to have an internationally recognized research record, pursue continuing research and scholarship, communicate research applications to external stakeholders, and provide disciplinary expertise, innovation, and leadership to help shape the College’s strategic goals. McCoy College is interested in recruiting an individual who can embrace and enhance the vision of a collegial and productive academic environment.
Texas State’s San Marcos campus is in a growing community along the I-35 corridor between Austin and San Antonio. The McCoy College of Business fosters an engaged learning community that prepares the student population for successful business careers as responsible global citizens. The College complements these efforts with research that adds to knowledge, provides solutions to business challenges, and contributes to pedagogical advances. The College is AACSB -accredited, has grown more than 30 percent over the last 10 years, and serves over 4,700 undergraduate and 400 graduate students.
The Department of Marketing has approximately 1,255 marketing majors in Fall 2024, with 16 in the MS in Marketing Research and Analysis ( MSMRA ) program. The department also teaches the 4,700 business majors and almost every business minor in McCoy College.
Responsibilities:
+ Develop an internationally recognized research portfolio in marketing
+ Conduct and collaborate on high-quality research leading to publications in top-tier journals
+ Develop and teach courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels in marketing
+ Share expertise across the College enhancing the College’s curricular and co-curricular learning experiences, including graduate programs
+ Provide thought leadership and share insights through engagement with diverse groups including faculty, students, alumni, media, industry professionals, and other external stakeholders
+ Serve as an excellent faculty role model who inspires, encourages, and mentors colleagues and students
+ Contribute to college and university initiatives by sharing expertise, building interdisciplinary programs and curriculum
Required Qualifications
+ Ph.D. in Marketing from an AACSB -accredited school, EQUIS accredited institution, or a long-standing appointment in a marketing department at an AACSB -accredited College of Business
+ A record of excellence in scholarship, teaching, and service commensurate with a tenured appointment at the rank of full professor in the Marketing Department
+ A nationally and internationally recognized research agenda, including a strong record of publications in the highest-quality journals
+ Demonstrated commitment to mentoring and supporting the development of junior faculty
+ History of effective service in leadership roles at the department, college, or university level, and/or in major professional organizations
Preferred Qualifications
+ Research interests that can enhance and contribute to the College’s strategic priorities.
+ Demonstrated leadership in building partnerships with external stakeholders including industry professionals, organizations, and media
+ Demonstrated ability to interact with and explain scholarship to non-academic audiences.
+ Editorial appointments at high quality marketing journals
+ Demonstrated excellence in teaching, including graduate-level courses
+ Strong interpersonal and communication skills
