Job Summary
The School of Management in the College of Business and Economic Development at the University of Southern Mississippi invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure track Professor of Practice in Entrepreneurship to begin in August 2025. This position is focused on teaching, mentoring, and engaging with the entrepreneurial community. We seek a dynamic individual with significant professional experience in entrepreneurship or related fields to prepare students for success in launching and managing innovative ventures.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
+ Teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in entrepreneurship, innovation, and related subjects.
+ Design and deliver experiential learning opportunities, including startup simulations, case studies, and business plan competitions.
+ Foster relationships with the local and regional entrepreneurial ecosystem, including startups, investors, and small business support organizations.
+ Collaborate with faculty to integrate entrepreneurship into interdisciplinary programs across the university.
+ Support and participate in college events, such as the Inspired Leaders Series, pitch competitions, and community engaged initiatives.
+ Contribute to curriculum development to ensure relevance and alignment with industry trends.
+ Maintain active engagement in professional development and networking within the entrepreneurship community.
+ Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
+ Candidates should have a master's degree in business, entrepreneurship, or a closely related field from an AACSB-accredited institution, have at least 18 graduate hours in management or entrepreneurship, and have teaching interests in Entrepreneurship, Management, and related areas.
+ Candidates should have significant professional experience in entrepreneurship, small business management, innovation management, venture capital, or startup development and strong connections to entrepreneurial ecosystems, with a track record of fostering innovation and collaboration.
+ Candidates must have teaching experiences and be able to support our teaching needs in our undergraduate and graduate programs.
+ Candidates must be eligible for employment in the United States.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
+ Demonstrated successful teaching ability is required.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred candidates will have:
+ Experience in developing and teaching experiential and applied learning courses.
+ Prior academic teaching experience at the undergraduate and graduate level.
+ Proven ability to secure funding for entrepreneurial initiatives or educational programs.
