Job Summary:
The Bilingual Program Aide is responsible for providing direct supervision, support and direction to children and adolescents in the shelter program during their scheduled shifts, usually weekday mornings and afternoons. This includes requiring an unwavering commitment to the safety of all children and being aware of all ongoing developments and concerns, on a daily basis, of all children in their care. Program Aides assist the minors throughout their transitions and participation in the unit milieu and in their education program.
Job Description:
Ensure a safe and secure environment. Perform "eyes on" supervision of all UC as assigned. Act immediately to remove all dangers or threats to the welfare of the UC and know the whereabouts of all assigned UC at all times. Supervise daily routines and responsibilities of the UC and ensure performance of daily self-care tasks, assisting when necessary. Provide minor first aid treatment when necessary. Monitor and assist UC in all environments and transitions, including direct supervision as needed in the unit milieu and in the school program. Supervise the UC's on-campus movement with a strong commitment to safety. Transport UC's to off-campus activities and/or scheduled consults utilizing program vehicles (if allowed by individual driving status) when necessary and as required. Have an understanding and be in compliance with all regulatory bodies and KidsPeace policies regarding documentation of services. Understand and comply with all laws, regulations, policies and ethical practices. Understand the duty to report a belief of a violation of laws, regulations, standards and ethical practices. Demonstrate competency in the areas of relationship building, professional boundaries and role modeling with children. Demonstrate care, compassion, respect, integrity, truthfulness and ethical behavior with the UC as well as interactions with other staff members. Provide direct translation in collaboration with the Clinician, MD or RN, to clients and/or their families for counseling sessions, groups, assessment information and other areas determined by need. Facilitate or co-facilitate psychoeducational/community groups, transitional meetings, and/or activity-related programming. Implement any behavior plan, risk protocol or other safety measure in accordance with Kidshaven protocols and the direction of the clinical team. Provide support and de-escalation to the UC as needed. Communicate quickly and thoroughly all client specific relevant information obtained through daily supervision of the UC to appropriate clinical team members. Complete all assigned tasks for the benefit of the unit milieu, including cleaning, ordering and maintaining supplies, laundry, as well as any other task assigned by the direct supervisor, on-grounds supervisor, or other Program Leadership. Maintain the unit so that it meets all regulations and requirements at all times. Complete 40 hours of training in accordance with all corporate and regulatory requirements within the deadlines established by the program or by contract.Qualifications:
High School graduate or equivalent required. College education in Mental Health or related field is preferred. Must be at least 21 years of age or older. 1 year of paid professional experience working with children and adolescents required. Valid driver's license preferred. Must possess basic personal computer knowledge and skills. Fluency in English and Spanish (demonstrated competency in oral and written communication) required. Interviews will be completed in English and Spanish. CPR/FA certification required and can be obtained during new hire training.
