Based in Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business, the Georgetown Business for Impact (BFI) unleashes the power of the private sector to help people and the planet thrive. We aspire to help solve today's most pressing problems by delivering world-class education and research, impactful student experience, and cross-sector partnerships with corporations, nonprofits, and government agencies. Our team is comprised of more than 20 staff, consultants, and executives-in-residence.

The Program and Communications Coordinator is integral in assisting the Georgetown BFI in meeting its strategic goals. This role is responsible for BFI's efficient and successful functioning through project and program coordination, communications, event support, administrative duties, and serving as a representative for BFI. The Program and Communication Coordinator requires demonstrated project management and communications skills, a passion for creating social impact, and enthusiasm for working on dynamic, fast-paced opportunities for growth. Duties include but are not limited to:

Work with the BFI Assistant Director of Events and Marketing to staff events, determining and reserving appropriate venue locations; managing catering, and setting up and breaking down event venues.

Develop, write, and publish engaging content for various platforms, including websites, social media, and e-newsletters, to communicate BFI’s message effectively.

Manage scheduling for the BFI Executive Director and Program Directors, including meetings and events, supporting BFI staff on coordinating schedules.

Manage BFI’s contacts and data (through Salesforce, Mailchimp, and Excel).

Provide general office support, from mail sorting, answering phones, and printing documents for senior staff.

Work Interactions

This position plays a critical role on the Georgetown Business for Impact Team. The person in this role will report to  BFI’s Senior Director and will work closely with BFI’s Executive Director and key program directors. S/he will work closely on a day-to-day basis with BFI’s Assistant Director for Marketing and Events.

Requirements and Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree OR commensurate work experience

2-4 years of experience in corporate, higher education, or professional services such as PR, marketing, and other consulting

Exceptional writing and communication abilities with exceptional written and verbal communication skills

Exceptional project management skills, with attention to details and planning skills

Ability to manage multiple projects within shared timeframes and to adapt to changes in technology as well as the policies and procedures that support activity at the university

Ability to understand appropriate and confidential data and file management, communication, and storage

Ability to work across various departments, schools, and reporting structures with adaptability and flexibility

Must commute most workdays to Georgetown’s main campus in Washington, DC

 Exceptional customer service skills, strong interpersonal, leadership, decision-making, and problem-solving skills

Self-starter and comfortable making and communicating difficult decisions

Track record of success in corporate services including PR, marketing, and communications preferred

Work Mode Designation

This position has been designated as Hybrid – four days a week on campus, and one day telework (on average). Pay Range:

The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:

$20.16 - $31.30

Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University’s business needs and external factors.
