The Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) is the state agency that focuses solely on policies, programs, and services for people with mental health challenges, substance use disorders, intellectual and developmental disabilities, or any combination of these. As Georgiaβs public safety net, DBHDD operates six field offices and five hospitals throughout the state within three program areas: behavioral health, developmental disabilities and hospital services.
The main office for DBHDD is located in downtown Atlanta.
Job Description
Job Title: Program Assistant β Region 5 (Savannah, GA)
Pay Grade: D
Job Summary:
Under general supervision, performs a variety of general secretarial, clerical, and administrative support functions/processes or a few specialized or essential clerical functions in support of a unit or office and related personnel. May enter data and/or process documents and records. The work includes operating standard office equipment. Work is performed under the general supervision of a clerical or administrative supervisor.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
+ This position is primarily responsible for regional customer service and supporting the waiver process.
+ Provides general clerical support to an office, to include such tasks as data entry/maintenance, copying/distributing documents and materials, maintaining record β keeping and filing systems, etc.
+ Provides clerical support within assigned functional area (i.e. review of applications, processing consumer documents, etc.).
+ Provides clerical support such as typing, filing, and sorting mail.
+ Provide education, instruction, data, and assistance to parents, consumers, and providers on various social service issues such as available services, benefits, resources, etc.
+ Uses independent judgment and initiative to perform administrative, clerical and secretarial duties in support of I/DD programs or group of employees.
+ Effective communication with internal and external customers.
+ Other duties as assigned.
8:00 a.m. β 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday
Qualifications:
High School diploma or GED and two years of general office or administrative experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Four years of experience as a receptionist
+ Excellent customer service skills
+ Excellent skills managing confidential files
+ Ability to communicate and write clearly in English
+ Proficient with Microsoft Office
This position is located at the DBHDD Region 5 Field Office in Savannah GA.
