About the Queens Center for Gay Seniors:
The Queens Center for Gay Seniors is a vital QCH program that serves older adults, particularly those who identify as LGBTQ+. We are seeking a dedicated Program Assistant (PA) to join our team, someone who is passionate about social services, has a strong commitment to older adults, and is eager to engage in outreach initiatives to expand program participation.
This role requires comfort and cultural competence working with LGBTQ+ older adults and the ability to thrive in a small, multitasking team environment. The Program Assistant will manage data entry and reporting, support meal distribution, assist with program setup and breakdown, and contribute to outreach and special events.
Key Responsibilities:A. Clerical Duties:
+ Welcome and assist participants and guests in person and over the phone.
+ Design and distribute flyers to promote program activities and events.
+ Manage membership registration for older adult participants.
+ Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of program activities and participant information.
B. Data Entry:
+ Input daily program activity data into STARS/Peer Place systems.
+ Verify daily activity logs to ensure alignment with recorded units in STARS/Peer Place.
+ Prepare and submit monthly reports on activity units and logs.
+ Collaborate with the Database Manager to organize participant files and update program information.
C. Program Support:
+ Assist with setting up and breaking down meal spaces and program activity areas.
+ Participate in outreach efforts to increase program awareness and enrollment.
D. Professional Development:
+ Comply with agency-wide performance standards.
+ Attend required trainings as assigned by the supervisor.
+ Contribute to the development of annual training plans and program evaluations.
Qualifications:
+ At least two years of experience in administrative or customer service roles.
+ Demonstrated ability to engage with older adults with patience, empathy, and flexibility.
+ Strong written and verbal communication skills.
+ Self-starter with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team setting.
+ Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and database management tools.
+ Bilingual proficiency in Spanish, Russian, and/or Chinese is preferred.
+ Familiarity with basic accounting and bookkeeping is a plus.
+ High school diploma or GED required.
