Program Coordinator, Sports and Recreation

Job Summary:

Responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing Sports and Recreation programs/activities across several sites, for members ages 4-18. Provides training and guidance to staff. Provides direct support to members. 

Responsibilities: 

Coordinates and supports sports activities at Hub and Spoke BGCGM locations.Implement and supervise sports tournaments, leagues, clinics and other sports and recreation related activities for Saturday program.Organizes and directs structured athletic leagues on a year-round basis such as: football, basketball, volleyball, soccer, and baseball for their assigned sites.Develops, implements, and evaluates quality Sports & Recreation programing and activities to achieve specific goals and outcome measurements.Develops and maintains a positive environment within program space.Provides written documentation of program implementation and evaluation.Tracks member participation in assigned program areas and documents results and progress of members.Implements and participates in programs, projects, and special events within the Sports & Recreation service area.Implements National Boys & Girls Club curriculum, programs projects, and other events within the service area.Coordinates youth projects such as fundraising and volunteer projects.Generate monthly, quarterly, and/or annual reports as requested.Recruit members into Sports & Rec Programs, field trips, and outings.Encourages emotional, social, and educational growth of individual members.Must participate in required training by the Club, County, State, and/or funders.Attends meetings and effectively utilizes support from the Program Support Team. Wisconsin Registry Level 7 

Education Requirements: 

6 college credits must be in childcare/youth development (one course must be broad-based, which means an overview-type course, such as a credit course in child development, child psychology, or covering early childhood education curriculum such as kindergarten or nursery school curriculum).Introduction to the Child Care Profession and Skills and Strategies for the Child Care Teacher are two non-credit approved courses that will satisfy the 6 college credits required for childcare/youth development. 

Experience Requirements: 

At least two years of experience in sports, fitness, and recreation programmingWithin 6 months of hire:CPRFirst AidSuspected Child Abuse –Mandated Report Training (SCAN-MART) or equivalent.Shaken Baby Prevention Training, if required.DCF Registry level 7 or higher indicating qualification as a childcare teacher. 

Skills: 

Ability to keep youth ages 4-18 enthusiastically engaged in programming.Demonstrated examples of working with youth.Program development and small group implementation.Highly organized with attention to detail.Ability to relate effectively with diverse populations.Good communication skills, both oral and written.Must have a valid WI driver’s license, good driving record, and meet state-required automobile insurance minimums.
