The Program Coordinator (Term) is a part of the Office of Academic Services at the School of Engineering. This position is responsible for three components consisting of Student Academic Support, Student Campus Life Coordination, and Office Administration. Duties require moderate exercise of independent judgment, initiative, and the ability to make decisions relative to the department’s operations as well as other tasks assigned. The position will function with a high degree of understanding of university life, policies, and procedures.
The Office of Student Success (OSS) supports and fosters a community where students have opportunities to explore their interests and network. OSS supports engineering students through a number of different programs such as STEM Tutoring, Clark Scholars, Supporting Women in Engineering Leadership (SWEL), Fall Early Start Transition Program (FEST), V2 Connect, and TLSAMP. The OSS team also serves as the engineering school's liaison for campus partners like the Global Education Office and the Career Center. Additionally, OSS is the supervising department for engineering specific student organizations.
NOTE: A Term position is a staff position that exists for a period longer than six months but is not expected to last beyond one year. Although a position may exist for a specified or indefinite period, staff who accept term positions are not guaranteed employment for the entire period; they are employed for indefinite periods within the limit of the appointment. There are no guarantees of continued employment, either within the term or when the term ends.

Special events coordinator (i.e., but not limited to, E-week, faculty appreciation lunch, order of the engineer) Engineering Student Organizations Lead Administrator Coordinate VUSE student organization programs providing formal opportunities for students to gain leadership skills and explore a variety of academic and non-academic interests. Provide support and advice regarding policies and procedures for all engineering student organizations Serve as administrative resource to all engineering student organizationsOffice of Student Success Office Administrator
Serve as backup administrator Respond to front desk, telephone, and email inquiries for the office Assist as liaison between students, instructors, departmental staff, the Office Academic Services and the Office of Student Success. Help to build and develop relationships. Coordinate room reservations for groups and departments in the School of Engineering for special events and meetings Maintain calendars for Office of Student Success staff Coordinate and oversee Student Worker recruiting, scheduling, and projects Potential Line manager role in overseeing student workers Manage departmental OneCard and other financial transaction programs; Procurement and requisitions Process academic service transactions including class enrollments and withdrawals Support Designated Human Capital Management (HCM) Other duties as assignedSupervisory Relationships: This position does not have supervisory responsibility. This position reports administratively and functionally to the Associate Dean of Student Success.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree is strongly preferred. At least three years of directly comparable experience is required. Strong organizational and critical thinking/problem-solving skills are required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, Adobe, and experience with databases is required. Comfort with new technology systems and ability to adapt easily to changes in technology and processes is required. Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously is required. Professional and pleasant attitude with the ability to work with considerable tact, diplomacy, and judgment when interacting with students, faculty, and staff is required. Excellent verbal and written communication skills is required. Experience working effectively with senior leadership is preferred. A background in finances including experience reviewing budgets is preferred. Experience working in a higher education/academic environment is preferred.
