The College of Arts and Sciences is interested in hiring a Program Coordinator who will provide administrative support to the Department of History. This role works under the guidance of the Director Graduate Studies (DGS) and Associate Director, Finance. In addition to the core responsibilities above, the Program Coordinator will also be responsible for the following: 

Department Administration:

Assist internal/external faculty, scholars, staff and students with travel reimbursements adhering to the university’s travel policy.Monitor assigned departmental budgets, including disbursement and accounting of funds.Coordinate departmental events and symposiums as directed by Department Chairperson.Assist with preparation of mailing of brochures and departmental materialsMaintains departmental files for faculty.

Graduate Program:

Assist with graduate student’s financial and human resource related matters including but not limited to, compensation for teaching assistants and funding support to present at national/international conferences.Coordinate and expedite the flow of graduate student applications, including verification of required documentation and preparing report on prospective candidates for final review by the Graduate Committee for recommendation for admittance. Track scholarship, fellowship, and award spending for programs.Monitors financial reports for graduate program including TA stipends, travel expenses, and general graduate program expenditures. May assist with the reconciliation of other departmental accounts (gift accounts, speakers accounts, etc.).Maintains departmental academic files for graduate students.

Minimum Qualifications                                                                                                         

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent

Experience:

Minimum 1 year of relevant experience. Any relevant education, certifications and/or work experience may be considered.

                           

Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes:

Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines.Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary.Commitment to the University’s core values.Ability to work independently and/or in a collaborative environment.Proficiency in computer software (i.e. Microsoft Office).
