In collaboration with eight of CUNY’s senior campuses, Macaulay Honors College (MHC) provides the most promising undergraduate students with an elite academic program of interdisciplinary seminars, personalized advisement, and experiential learning supported by dedicated funding for study abroad, internships, and research. The Collaborative Academic Recovery Program at Macaulay Honors College
This project will solve how to effectively and efficiently move students off academic probation and into good academic standing. Academic probation directly affects students’ persistence and graduation by disrupting credit accumulation, academic momentum, and access to internships and programs that prepare them for life after college.
Position Overview:
The Program Coordinator for the Collaborative Academic Recovery Program (CARP) will lead and manage key components of this initiative during Year 1. The coordinator will oversee the development and implementation of a resource guide and academic dashboard, finalize the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the College Access: Research & Action (CARA) peer mentoring program, and recruit, train, and support student mentors. The position will require close collaboration with campus staff, consultants, and key personnel at eight partnering senior colleges to review academic recovery data, develop evidence-based interventions, and ensure the successful completion of program goals. The Program Coordinator reports to the Associate Dean for Student Services and Engagement and will be an essential part of a team working toward improving academic recovery efforts across the 8 senior colleges.
Note: this is a grant-funded, one-year position.
Key Responsibilities:
Resource Guide Development
+ Lead the creation of the Collaborative Academic Recovery Program’s resource guide, ensuring it is comprehensive, user-friendly, and accessible to students, mentors, and staff.
+ Collaborate with academic support staff, faculty, and consultants to ensure the guide meets the needs of all stakeholders.
Student Support Team
+ In collaboration with the Associate Dean, serve as the co-chair of the Student Support Team . The Student Support Team’s mission is to identify students of concern and intervene as early as possible. The students may be experiencing academic, personal, health, mental health, financial, relationship, or other issues that could interfere with their academic success, adjustment to college life, and/or pose a danger to themselves or others.
+ Work with the Student Support Team to re-educate teh Macaulay community about the resources and support available to students.
Dashboard Development
+ Engage with and manage a consultant who will lead the development of an academic support dashboard.
+ Work with Macaulay’s Institutional Effectiveness team to review academic support data and identify trends, ensuring the dashboard provides actionable insights for improving student success.
Peer Mentoring Program
+ With oversight from the Associate Dean, finalize the MOU with CARA for the peer mentoring program and ensure that all necessary agreements and requirements are met.
+ Recruit and train student mentors through CARA, equipping them with the tools and knowledge necessary to support students effectively.
+ Provide ongoing support and guidance to student mentors throughout the program.
Data Review and Evidence-Based Intervention Development
+ In collaboration with Institutional Effectiveness, analyze academic support data to identify patterns and gaps in intervention strategies.
+ Develop evidence-based recommendations and interventions to address the needs of students at each participating campus.
+ Work with key staff at eight partnering senior colleges to review academic support data and ensure interventions are tailored to the unique needs of each institution.
Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement
+ Act as the primary point of contact for key staff at senior colleges, consultants, and campus teams involved in the project.
+ Foster strong working relationships with academic support personnel, Student Support Team (CARE Team), campus leadership, and external partners.
Project Management and Reporting
+ Oversee the timeline and deliverables for Year 1 of the program, ensuring that the resource guide and dashboard are finalized and shared by the end of the period.
+ Prepare and submit progress reports to project stakeholders, ensuring transparency and accountability.
+ Ensure that all project activities are documented and aligned with the goals of the program.
Work Environment
+ Full-time, one-year hybrid position based at Macaulay Honors College, with some travel between campuses.
+ Traditional 9am-5pm work hours, including occasional evenings or weekends for training sessions or project-related events.
+ Collaborative, team-oriented environment.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
+ Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., education, student services, or public administration).
+ At least 3 years of experience in program coordination, academic support services, or related roles.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Master’s degree in a related field.
+ Experience with mentoring programs and working with students from diverse backgrounds.
+ Experience in developing and managing resources, tools, and interventions for student success.
+ Strong understanding of academic recovery and student success strategies.
+ Experience with data analysis and the ability to collaborate with institutional research teams.
+ Demonstrated ability to manage projects, meet deadlines, and work independently.
+ Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
+ Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, including faculty, staff, students, and external consultants.
+ Familiarity with dashboard development or related technology tools.
