The Program Coordinator I, under general supervision, will coordinate the planning, development, and implementation of assigned global engagement programs and functions in the College of Arts & Sciences. What You Need to Know
Salary: Compensation will be commensurate based on the selected candidate's education and experience.
Location/Schedule: This position will be required to work in various locations on and off campus to include occasional evening or weekend work to support department functions and campus events.
Required Education and Experience:
+ Bachelor’s degree
+ Two years of related experience including experience in the promotion of international activities
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
+ Ability to cultivate and maintain professional working relationships
+ Ability to plan and organize work effectively and prioritize multiple ongoing responsibilities
+ Strong written and oral communication skills, and attention to detail
+ Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation applications
+ Ability to exercise discretion, independent judgment, and take initiative
+ Ability to move/push/pull/lift/carry oversized and cumbersome items for events (a wagon with tables, utility carts with supplies, banners, merchandise, literature, signs, etc.; a food cart; a cooler of drinks; bags of items, etc.)
+ Requires bending/lifting/reaching/pulling items of moderately heavy weight
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Familiarity with collaborating across units and with external and international partners
+ Knowledge of education abroad in higher education
+ Familiarity with, or ability to learn, education abroad software platform (Via) and communication technologies (Zoom, Teams)
Responsibilities:
+ Promotion and Outreach: Coordinate the college’s annual participation in International Education Week, World Fair, and Aggieland Saturday. Speak to student organizations, departments, and others as requested, regarding participation in study abroad. Conduct other tabling and events as identified to promote participation in global programs and to further opportunities to develop global knowledge and intercultural competence on campus. Develop new strategies and programs as identified needs arise. Maintain student and outreach data pertaining to all global engagement activities. Create and maintain physical and digital promotional and reference materials. Collaborate as necessary with units in the College of Arts & Sciences, campus partners, and vendors. Assist in the promotion of global engagement opportunities through traditional means and social media.
+ Program Development and Management: Assist in establishing goals, timelines, objectives, policies, projections, and aim for continual process improvement for programs abroad created and managed by the College of Arts & Sciences. This will involve coordinating efforts and workflows with faculty, departments, program providers, exchange partners, Education Abroad, and other partners. Correspond and interact with students as needed regarding all phases of a global program. Support faculty leaders regarding recruitment, applications, participant selection, and related tasks related to program execution, whether full program or international field trip. Coordinate with relevant campus partners and respond to general inquiries as necessary. Assist in coordinating the Global Ambassador Program. Assist with training and the supervision of student ambassadors. Assist in the coordination, planning, and logistics for meetings, appointments, information sessions, and other events. Set up meetings and other special events. Maintain and present data relevant to global engagement activities in the College. Explain, apply, interpret, and communicate College of Arts & Sciences and TAMU policies and procedures.
+ Student Engagement & Advising: Correspond and interact with students via drop-in advising hours, telephone calls, emails, Zoom/Teams meetings, tabling events, presentations, and organizational meetings. Accurately and promptly disseminate information regarding all global programs based on student’s spoken needs and preferences. Maintain dedicated advising hours each week of no less than 10 hours. Meet with all applicants for college-wide exchange programs and explain various processes and procedures. Monitor Global Ambassadors when Program Manager is not present, ensuring they’re on time, accurate, and professional for their advising hours and events. Assist Global Ambassadors with more complex student questions and concerns and perform other duties as assigned.
