Job Title Program Coordinator I Agency Texas A&M University Department Office for Youth Engagement Proposed Minimum Salary Commensurate Job Location College Station, Texas Job Type Staff Job Description Who We Are The Office for Youth Engagement was created to increase Texas youth’s knowledge of post-secondary opportunities through strategic engagement with Texas A&M University. Our team works collaboratively with partners across the University as well in communities across the State of Texas to create opportunities for youth to connect with career aspirations and understand the value of education. What We Want The Program Coordinator I, works closely with the Program Manager and Director to cultivate and manage stakeholder relationships in Brazos Valley area. We are looking for someone familiar with the Brazos Valley region, who is a self-starter, and excited to be part of growing a new initiative in the area. The Program Coordinator I, works with other youth engagement teammates to implement curriculum and community-based initiatives that directly impact students’ knowledge of and access to post-secondary educational opportunities through programming and workshops with youth and their families. What you need to know Salary: $45,000 Cover Letter & Resume: A cover letter and resume are strongly recommended Program Coordination & Event Planning + Proactively identifies and implements methods for publicizing and promoting the activities of the Office for Youth Engagement + Host community events to increase awareness of the Office and distribute relevant resources to youth and their families + Conducts all pre and post-program communication with teachers, students, parents and other stakeholders as needed + Supports with marketing and coordination for major Office programs including Aggieland Saturday, youth camps, and signature programs + Supports campus and community event planning as requested + Supports teammates with duties related to programming, event execution, family communication, and school engagement as needed + Helps organize, provide support for, and attend evening and weekend events organized by other teammates Local Event Support & Programming + Proactively identifies and implements methods for publicizing and promoting the activities of the Office for Youth Engagement + Host community events to increase awareness of the Office and distribute relevant resources to youth and their families + Conducts all pre and post-program communication with teachers, students, parents and other stakeholders as needed + Supports with marketing and coordination for major Office programs including Aggieland Saturday, youth camps, and signature programs + Supports campus and community event planning as requested + Supports teammates with duties related to programming, event execution, family communication, and school engagement as needed + Helps organize, provide support for, and attend evening and weekend events organized by other teammates Administrative + Track engagement metrics and provide regular reports on impact + Provide feedback and recommendations on curriculum and resources so that they can be improved or developed + Assists in managing inventory of publications, promotionals, and other programmatic items in region + Submits monthly progress reports to the program manager documenting progress and outcome data Required Education and Experience + Bachelor’s Degree + Two years of experience in leading program or project or program coordination in related area such as event planning, communication, and organization Preferred Qualifications + Oral and written proficiency in Spanish + Ability to provide accurate advising related to post-secondary pathways including working knowledge of admissions requirements for trade schools, 2-year, and 4-year institutions + Experience working with schools and school districts in a college access role + Demonstrated commitment to excellent customer service with a strong focus on responsiveness, problem solving, and building positive community relationships + Knowledge of the importance of education and its impact on economic and social mobility + Experience with college recruitment and admissions, academic advising, or college counseling + Experience planning post-secondary related programming for students and parents + Experience tabling for community events and/or college and career fairs + A Class “C” vehicle operator’s license or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities + Strong communication and public presentation skills + Skilled in time and task management including multi-tasking and tracking the status of action items + Skilled in basic office tools including Outlook and Microsoft Suite tools + Work collaboratively and effectively with a number of teams and individuals to accomplish goals of the Office + Ability to track and analyze basic student assessment and engagement data + Experience in youth programs such as camps, after-school programs, community programs, working in underrepresented communities, etc Other Requirements and Factors + Located in College Station, TX. + Travel is required for this role + Ability to drive to schools and events across the region including the ability to move between multiple sites within a single day + This job requires occasional evening and weekend commitments outside of traditional working hours + This position is security sensitive + This position requires compliance with state and federal laws/codes and Texas A&M University System/TAMU policies, regulations, rules and procedures + All tasks and job responsibilities must be performed safely without injury to self or others in compliance with System and University safety requirements Why Texas A&M University?
