What we want The Office for Student Success University Advising team seeks to hire a Program Coordinator II who will develop, coordinate, and lead academic advisor training and professional development programs as well as support undergraduate students through various academic advising programs and student success and retention initiatives. This role will primarily be responsible for the coordination and execution of the academic advisor onboarding program and the development and coordination of training programs to meet the needs of the academic advisor career ladder position descriptions. Additionally, the worker in this position will work collaboratively with campus and external partners to develop, coordinate, and execute relevant training and professional develop programs for academic advisors. We seek a motivated leader who is invested in providing quality, just-in-time support to students in unique academic situations and is equally passionate about supporting academic advisors in their career development. Successful candidates are self-starters, have a strong background and experience in undergraduate academic advising, have proficiency in advising technology tools, and can establish and maintain campus and external partnerships for the development of relevant academic advisor training and development programs. These can be uploaded on the application under CV/Resume.  Responsibilities Program Coordination + Coordinates the planning, development, and implementation of programs, resources, and workshops for students, advisors, and other stakeholders + Coordinates academic advisor training and professional development programs in coordination with campus partners and respective university college/school advising leadership + Manages and maintains the academic advisor training and professional development content and materials in coordination with campus partners and respective university and college/school leaders + Works collaboratively with the University Advisors and Counselors (UAC) to support academic advisor training and professional development programs + Works collaboratively with other OSS units to develop and implement relevant training and professional development programs for academic advisors + Leads and conducts, or collaborates with others, on unit presentations to various groups including prospective students, families, current students, academic advisors, campus partners, etc Student Advising and Engagement + Collaborates with students to understand and develop realistic and attainable educational and academic goals and provides input on related majors, minors, future education, and career options that best align with goals + Educates students about and prepares and assists them with full array of academic processes (e.g., registration, add/drop, Q drops, withdrawals, change of curriculum submissions, etc.) by sharing university and college policies, program requirements, transfer credit decisions, etc + Reviews student academic records and counsels students regarding core and degree course selection and implication of selected courses and/or exception requests + Creates and maintains updated relevant records and notes (e.g., student contact, advisor notes) + Answers inquiries and provides information to prospective students, current students, and parents + Discusses and refers students to appropriate campus resources for mental health issues + Teaches first year experience course(s) Analytics and Assessment + Assists in providing reports and data analysis of advising initiatives and special populations + Uses EAB Navigate and other institutional reports to support OSS retention initiatives and programs like nudges and early alerts and works with college/school advisors and relevant campus partners to address needs + Creates and monitors student watch lists in EAB Navigate. Manages student cases as assigned to provide proper guidance and to ensure follow-up care + Prepares and completes reports related to academic advisor training and professional development programs, and reports findings to respective university and college/school leaders + Creates and manages assessment of academic advisor onboarding, training, and professional development programs Administrative and Committee Work + Collaborates and provides support to other units within the Office for Student Success + Interprets OSS and university rules and procedures and assists with the management of human and fiscal resources + Serves on university, division, and department committees as assigned Qualifications Required Education and Experience + Bachelor’s Degree + 4 years of experience in academic advising Preferred Qualifications + Master’s degree in Student Affairs, Higher Education Administration, Counseling, Educational Technology, Adult Education, or Educational Leadership + 5 or more years of academic advising administration or academic advising program management experience + Recruiting or prospective student advising experience + Experience in developing, coordinating, and leading academic advisor training programs + Experience in developing or coordinating student retention programs + Intermediate experience with data analysis in a higher education capacity + Demonstrated experience with EAB Navigate or related predictive analytics software + Strong problem-solving skills + High degree of initiative and ability to think and work independently + Knowledge of catalogs, degree plans, academic programs, and/or degree evaluations + Experience with educational technology platforms and tools like Articulate 360/Rise, Adobe Captivate/XD, Canva, and Camtasia Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities + Proficiency in Microsoft 365 and Google Suite + Proficiency with Banner (COMPASS and HOWDY) + Proficiency with TrainTraq + Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others + Excellent verbal and written communication skills + Assists in establishing short and long-term unit goals + Collaborates with others to create new and expanded programs + Develops and maintains positive relationships with campus partners and other stakeholders + Assists in preparation and monitoring of budgets for programs and events + Plans, implements, and evaluates programs + Develops and maintains/updates training materials and delivers training Other Requirements and Factors + This position is security sensitive + This position requires compliance with state and federal laws/codes and Texas A&M University System/TAMU policies, regulations, rules, and procedures + All tasks and job responsibilities must be performed safely without injury to self or others in compliance with System and University safety requirements + This position may require work beyond normal office hours and/or work on weekends + This position allows alternate work location per TAMU guidelines + This position may direct and/or evaluate the work of others Why Texas A&M University?
