STATUS:Non-exempt, full time (37.5 hours)
HOURLY RATE:$21.00 per hour
Summary:
It is the responsibility of the program coordinator to develop, implement and market innovative programming to Maplewood YMCA members and/or their caregivers consistent with the resource center model. Programs are focused on health and wellness, life-long learning, social/recreation and community service. Working closely with the YMCA liaison to develop a strong partnership, the program coordinator manages the day to day operations of the center while recruiting, coordinating and developing a strong volunteer base.
DUTIES AND Responsibilities
1.0Program operations
+ Implements goals/objectives of service matrix as outlined by funders to ensure program compliance.
+ Manages meal program, purchases food/ supplies and maintains a clean/organized kitchen, closets and program space.
+ Develops and distributes a monthly newsletter of programs, workshops and events by targeted deadline.
+ Models a kind, warm, enthusiastic attitude while working to develop a close-knit and connected community amongst older adult YMCA members and/or their caregivers.
+ Acts as a liaison between Lifespan and YMCA to request program space and submit newsletter for YMCA website.
+ Input program units and submits registration of members into Peerplace.
+ Creatively advertises program offerings to all older adult members, provides reminder and wellness calls to members.
+ Promotes and encourages participation in programs daily in-person and/or via Lily Café Facebook page.
+ Provides supervision and training to the assistant program coordinator and volunteers.
+ Recruits volunteers and develops opportunities for meaningful involvement in the operations of the program.
2.0Finance and Budget
+ Operates within budget specifications.
+ Maintains oversight of inventory of program supplies and equipment by working in conjunction with the kitchen coordinator order/purchases supplies as needed.
+ Submits contract requests into Docuware and promptly submits invoices to accounts payable staff
+ Maintains oversight of petty cash
+ Collects/verifies member contributions for meals, activities and donations, makes banks deposits and enters funds into banking worksheet.
3.0PERSONNEL/EMPLOYEE RELATIONS
+ Maintains a spirit of cooperation and teamwork with partnership staff and volunteers
+ Respects the confidential status of member information, program rosters, etc.
+ Attends appropriate workshops and training for skill building
+ Attends and actively participates in monthly team meeting and identified partnership staff meetings.
+ Adheres to all agency policies and procedures.
4.0OTHER
+ Performs all other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
+ Bachelor’s degree required (social work, recreation degree preferred) and
+ Minimum of 2 years’ experience independently managing an older adult gathering place while developing and implementing social/educational activities, programs or workshops.
+ Completion of L1 Food Service Certification after 3-month probationary period is complete.
PHYSICIAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
+ Excellent customer service/interpersonal skills including verbal and written communication skills, listening and understanding concerns while maintaining professional composure
+ Demonstrates understanding of the mission of the program and coaches to that mission
+ Must be able to multi-task in a very busy environment
+ Ability to work in multi-cultural environment, navigate mental health situations and build relationship
+ Able to stand for up to 2-hour increments and lift, carry, push and/or pull 25+pounds
+ Strong computer skills required in Excel, Word and Canva
