Program Coordinator – Patient Care Assisting/Nurse Aide
JOB SUMMARY
The Program Coordinator is responsible for the coordination, instruction, and evaluation of students at assigned clinical sites.
MAJOR DUTIES
+ Oversees program in its entirety;
+ Reviews all required documentation for the yearly on-site and/or desktop review;
+ Assists instructors in resolving any issues with students;
+ Makes occasional on-site visits to classroom/lab and clinical sites to ensure proper instruction is taking place and documenting progress related to those visits;
+ Assists with compilation of material presented for the approval or re-approval prior to submitting to the Georgia Nurse Aide Training Program;
+ Attends the first clinical rotation in a nursing home with all first-time instructors without nursing home experience;
+ Oversees in-facility test dates scheduled by the program;
+ Ensures safety and security requirements are met in the training areas;
+ Assists with recruitment, retention and job placement efforts;
+ Meets with students, staff members, supervisors, as needed;
+ Participates in assessment, planning, budgeting, and staff development; and
+ Performs other duties as assigned.
COMPETENCIES
+ Proficient in teaching methodology, supervision, instruction, evaluation, and guidance
+ Skill in developing lesson outlines and materials
+ Knowledge of vocational area of assignment
+ Skill in presenting subject matter
+ Skill in administering tests to evaluate progress
+ Skill in the use of computers and job related software programs
+ Skill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with adult learners
+ Oral and written communication skills
+ Knowledge of student information systems
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
+ A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in the teaching discipline, OR an Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university and demonstrated competencies in the teaching discipline
+ Three years of relative work experience within the last seven years to include one year working as a registered nurse in a long-term care facility
+ Must have completed a course in teaching adults or have experience in teaching adults and/or supervising nurse aides
+ Required Active License/Certification: RN, CPR, and GA Nurse Aide Program Train the Trainer (must be obtained within six months of hire date)
