Program Coordinator - UVA Programs in Venice and the Veneto

The School of Architecture at the University of Virginia invites applications for the part-time position of Program Coordinator for the UVA Programs in Venice and the Veneto.  The successful candidate will be an entrepreneurial, outgoing and organized person who is committed to building networks to connect people within and beyond the university. The Program Coordinator will work with the Director of UVA Programs in Venice and the Veneto to develop and coordinate programs, events, and activities in support of the establishment of a center for research and study in the Veneto. While the programming of the center involves faculty and students initially from the School of Architecture, the programming is intended to grow to include other academic units of the University as well as external partners in innovative collaborative relationships. The responsibilities will be wide-ranging and dynamic, ranging from program and event planning to the development of publications and networking across the university.  In addition to collaborating with the Director in developing and coordinating programs, the person selected will assist as a liaison for program partners external to the University (corporate, non-profit, and government) and help to execute an agenda that will enable the University to achieve further leadership and distinction.

The Program Coordinator will work closely with the Director to assist in the development of funding proposals for programs, manage office administrative tasks, collect and analyze data on programs, coordinate the hiring and onboarding of student interns, create and distribute announcements, compile and disseminate program opportunities, maintain and update websites, and assist in the preparation of publications. The Program Coordinator will serve as the primary point of contact for schools and departments, responding to queries about programs. The ideal candidate will be flexible, possess outstanding writing, analytical, and organizational skills, manage multiple tasks simultaneously, and will have a record of effective collaboration with a range of constituencies.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

The successful candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); knowledgeable of scheduling with Outlook; possess skills needed for office management, budgeting account reconciliation; knowledgeable of filing systems. Other competencies should include discretion with confidential matters, being assertive but courteous, problem solver, self-starter, organized, pays attention to detail, multi-task, and prioritizes well.  This position requires excellent written and oral communications skills.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: High School DiplomaExperience: Six years of experience. Bachelor’s degree may substitute for experience.Significant experience as a program coordinator or manager preferred

This is a restricted, one-year appointment with the possibility of renewal contingent upon satisfactory performance and the availability of funding. This is a part-time (0.5 FTE), benefited position. For more information on the benefits at UVA, visit hr.virginia.edu/benefits.
