Responsible for leading PeaceHealth's efforts to implement and manage environmental sustainability initiatives across our healthcare system. Responsible for ensuring that PeaceHealth not only meets both current and future environmental and sustainability standards, but also looks to reduce and mitigate the risks and impacts of climate events and our system's ability to continue to provide care to our communities. The role will work closely with system leaders, clinicians, and hospital stakeholders to create and implement programs and strategies to achieve goals and create quantitative indicators to measure progress and effectiveness of environmental impact reductions. The Prog Dir Environmental Stewardship must ensure that quality and performance improvement activities meet their target conditions. The Prog Dir Environmental Stewardship is responsible to adhere to all applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and standards for their areas and to be continuously ready for any survey on those regulations or standards.
**What you will enjoy:**
+ Develops and executes a comprehensive sustainability strategy for the entire hospital system. Leads cross-functional teams and foster a culture of sustainability across all system networks and departments. Represents our hospital system in local, regional, and national sustainability forums. Collaborates with hospital Foundations to identify and implement strategies that leverage sustainability efforts to increase donor engagement.
+ Ensures that the hospital system is in compliance with local, state, and federal environmental regulations. Monitors reporting requirements and regulatory developments, identifying opportunities and risks. Advises executive leadership on sustainability trends, risks, and opportunities.
+ Designs and implements sustainability projects, such as waste reduction, recycling and reprocessing, energy conservation, food, and sustainable purchasing. Participates in the development and management of green building and infrastructure projects. Creates and implements educational programs for staff and patients to promote sustainable behaviors.
+ Tracks, measures, and reports on sustainability metrics, ensuring transparency in our efforts and progress. Regularly presents updates to executive leadership and the board. Engages with external stakeholders to communicate sustainability achievements and goals.
+ Serves as the subject matter expert when responding to stakeholder inquiries regarding sustainability issues. Partners with marketing/communications teams for increasing the overall recognition of PeaceHealth’s environmental programs by both internal and external audiences. Collaborates with community groups and other healthcare organizations to advance sustainability in the broader community.
+ Identifies and pursues grant opportunities and other external funding sources to support sustainability initiatives. Leads, coordinates, and ensures timely completion of all sustainability projects.
+ Performs other duties as assigned.
**What you will bring:**
+ Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science, Public Health Administration or Business Administration.
+ Master's Degree Preferred.
+ Minimum of 6 years professional experience and solid history of successful project delivery, including significant experience in sustainability roles, ideally within a healthcare setting.
+ Proven experience in developing and implementing sustainability strategies within large organizations, preferably in the healthcare sector.
+ Project Management Professional Certification preferred.

+ Strong knowledge of sustainability best practices, metrics, and reporting frameworks.
+ Ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence at all levels of an organization.
+ Exceptional communication, presentation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
+ Excellent analytical and communication skills, ability to present information in meaningful ways to varied audiences.
**Working Conditions:**
+ Consistently operates computer and other office equipment.
+ Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
+ Sedentary work.
+ Predominantly operates in an office environment.
+ Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
+ The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.
The salary range for this job opening at PeaceHealth is $113,588 – $170,372. The hiring rate is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to education, training, work experience, terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement, seniority, etc.
