Summary :The Internal Medicine Residency Program Director will lead the development and management of the internal medicine residency program, including curriculum, faculty recruitment and development, and ACGME (and other organizations) communication. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

This includes selecting and supervising the faculty and other program personnel at each participating institution, appointing a local site director, and monitoring appropriate resident/fellow supervision at all participating institutions.Ensure that residents/fellows are informed of and adhere to established educational and clinical practices, policies, and procedures in all sites to which they are assigned.Actively participate in the Graduate Medical Education Committee (GMEC).Maintain contemporary professional knowledge and education.Performs other duties as required.Must participate in residency program related continuous professional developmentACGME Requirements and Expectations for the Program Director Role:
The program director is responsible for all aspects of the program and is accountable for compliance with all applicable program requirements. (Common Program Requirements II.A.1.)The GMEC must verify that the program director meets the qualifications outlined in II.A.3. as well as verify that the program director has an active medical license and a current clinical appointment and privileges before approving the change. (Common Program Requirements II.A.1.a))The program director and, as applicable, the program’s leadership team, must be provided with support adequate for administration of the program based upon its size and configuration (Common Program Requirements II.A.2.)The Program Director’s qualifications must include specialty expertise and at least three years of documented educational and/or administrative experience (Common Program Requirements II.A.3.a))The Program Director’s qualifications must include current board certification in the specialty for which they are the program director or sub-specialty qualifications that are acceptable to the Review Committee (Common Program Requirements II.A.3.b))The Program Director must participate in ongoing clinical activity (Common Program Requirements II.A.3.c))The Program Director must:Be a role model of professionalism (Common Program Requirements II.A.4.a).(1))Design and conduct the program in a fashion consistent with the needs of the community, the mission(s) of the Sponsoring Institution, and the mission(s) of the program (Common Program Requirements II.A.4.a).(2))Administer and maintain a learning environment conducive to educating the residents/fellows in each of the ACGME Competency domains (Common Program Requirements II.A.4.a).(3))Have the authority to approve or remove physicians and non-physicians as faculty members at all participating sites, including the designation of core faculty members, and must develop and oversee a process to evaluate candidates prior to approval (Common Program Requirements II.A.4.a).(4))Have the authority to remove residents/fellows from supervising interactions and/or learning environments that do not meet the standards of the program (Common Program Requirements II.A.4.a).(5))Submit accurate and complete information required and requested by the DIO, GMEC, and ACGME. Must include Internal Medicine specialty expertise and at least three (3) years of participation as an active faculty member in an ACGME-accredited residency program and/or three years of administrative experience acceptable to the ACGME Review CommitteeMust hold a current appointment with ThedaCare Medical Staff and have ongoing clinical activity at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center - NeenahMinimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Requirements:
Must have, or obtain, knowledge of ACGME accreditation for Internal Medicine and be able to act as an expert resource for the ACGME accreditation and required in-year reporting. Actively liaise with the ACGME and other relevant organizations to ensure program compliance. Oversee development of the program accreditation review process.Must have experience working as part of an interdisciplinary, interprofessional team to create an educational environment that promotes high-quality care, patient safety, and resident well-beingLicense, Registration, or Certification Requirements:
Must hold current certification by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) or the American Osteopathic Board of Internal Medicine (AOBIM)Wisconsin State medical license (at the time of employment)PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
